ant man
try not to fly with your arms so stiff.. keep them low in front of you and relax you movements.. you do hav good control of the kite for winds at that range ... by the looks of things youll have it down in no time.. ive seen new fliers who have had their kites for months and couldn,t launch them off the ground.. the video looks great man .. John Barresi
Also Chef, from what I saw in the video... I'd recommend working on a few compulsories, to give the exercise of moving from one specific place to another, in a certain way. It's the mental decision to move the kite from place to place, as opposed to keeping it out of trouble. Within that, I'd working on minimizing the inputs in winds like that... Really feel out how little the kite takes to respond. Coming along, keep after it!

ant man
in time youll know what the kite is doing by feel .. little movements are the key really.. you have to just relax and lose yourself in the flying .. most new fliers that i ve seen always worry abouth crashing and get to tence .. with that it causes you to handle the kite like a mad man and all control is lost .. just remember take your time with every move .. a good rule is to do on move at a time .. it gets annoying after a while but at that point you ll have it glued in your head.. Penny Lingenfelter
Kewl Kewl! 17 mph , With that much wind, you did well. This may not all apply because of the wind. I watched your hands on a launch. If you want a cleaner straight up launch, use your wrist a little more to point the bottoms of the handles up. Pull back a touch or step back 1/2 A step even in high wind to give your kite a clean launch. Ground wind can still be ugly. You'll want to feel a little pressure on your thumbs right away to control the speed. Try the same thing on your landings. I watched you bring it down.. just a tiny bit more rotation on your wrist will bring it down. Not to much, you don't want to lay it out. Play with your handles off of the kite to get an idea of what this will do for the kite. Brakes.. I didn't really see any.... I saw stabilizing. Practice stopping that kite in every direction.. Just going across the window or up and down.. stop. stop. stop. Once you really have your brakes, it will add a bazillion moves to your ability. If you think you have your brakes, but can't face 6:00 dive and stop, then you don't have your brakes quite yet. When you get those down.. you'll know it. If you’re having trouble getting your brakes practice launching, and landing a few times... This will put the muscle memory of pushing down in your head and hands. You'll still see the panic once in a while, but a whole lot less. Hey, great video.. If we had video in our beginning, it would show us going up and crashing to the left, or crashing to the right. Never saw a crash once in yours! EXP in 17 mph.. pretty good! BB Penny

John Barresi
If the kite is too jumpy (acceleration) in high winds, you might also try moving your hands 1/2" to 3/4" down on the handles.
