Upnet Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Today....Tues. lots of wind.16-20mph. Hauled butt, after work to our designated kite field. Since I have not had much "air time" with my Acrobatx...it was the first one out. Holy Cow! That sucker pulled like a freight train! Too much wind for trying any tricks. So I did figure eights and tried out the "Push" technique...instead of "pull". Flying low left to right etc. A gust came up and the kite started to drag me!! Spectra singing....kite buzzing...man I was in heaven! Heels dug in ...shoulders straining....wrist straps digging in... getting dragged...pushing up turf with the heels of my work boots! I knew...just knew my kite was about to explode! Don't panic....what to do? Fly to the edge....NOW! Control....fly the kite ...FLY THE KITE! Made it to the edge...then found that magical place.. .just BEFORE the edge. A small quiet place....just outside the maelstrom. Flew around....push...one...two...three...four. Then reverse push. Catch my breath...ready....push left...go right...back into the kite shredding teeth of the wind! In control....BUUZZZZ....I got CONTROL! Fly the box....push...up...push...right....push...down...push.....................wrong hand!!!!! OMG 30mph pile driver into the turf! BANG!! OMG. I sprint to the kite.....knowing it will be bad. I slide to a stop...on my knees...cradling the multicolored kite like some kind of wounded fawn. Check every inch...looking for shattered parts.....but no? No damage....my heart soars....it's fine!!! Hooray. But I am no fool...the wind has picked up. Put the Acrobatx away...and bring out the BOMB! (to be Continued) Updated 5/28/09: Go To Upnets Blog Quote

John Barresi Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Hahahahaha... Awesome, felt like I got to fly too, with that play-by-play. <grin> Quote
Aerochic Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Ha Ha! Cooooooool! I'm going to have to dust off my dualie now... Quote
John Barresi Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 I brought more duals to Japan than quads this time. Of course, you simply don't need as many Revs to get the job done. Brought SUL/STD/VTD Shivas (precision- old school), two Jumps (fun, fast tricking) and a Mid-Vent Sea Devil (high end tricking). Quote
