mirecat
In case you haven't heard, the Windless Kite Festival is coming up quick. You are invited! The event is held in the Long Beach Elementary School, 400 Washington Ave N., Long Beach, WA. There will be kites on display, fighter kite demonstrations, free-flying time, an indoor competition, indoor stunt kite demonstration, and even an indoor Hot Trick Shoot-out. Jan. 14th the festival begins at 4pm with an evening of informal free-flying. Saturday, Jan 15th will begin in the morning with more free-flying time. At 10am the demonstrations will start. Some more free-flying through the lunch hour and at 2pm there will be the indoor competition. At 6pm the banquet begins. It will be an Italian potluck. At the banquet, awards will be presented and there will be a auction / raffle, with the proceeds going to the World Kite Museum in Long Beach. So bring an Italian dish or salad, and an item for the raffle. Sunday, Jan. 16th, will bring even more free-flying time, demonstrations, and at 11am an indoor ''Hot Trick Shoot-out''. Monday, Jan 17th, there will be even more free flying time. Last year the event was a huge success and this year promises to be bigger. To compete in either or both of the competitions you must be a current AKA member and there will be a $10 registration fee. So come spend the long weekend with us, you won't regret it! I have made arrangements with the Shaman Motel in Long Beach for special rates during the Windless Kites Festival. Their winter rates for rooms run between $55 and $70. They will give us the 2nd and 3rd night for half price. I'll be staying there. :-) Just let them know that I sent you. Shaman Motel 115 3rd St. Sw P.O. Box 235 Long Beach, WA 98631 (360) 642-3714 1.800.753.3750 http://www.shamanmotel.com/pages/maps.html P.S. We will be having the fly mart/ swap meet again. You can bring your used kites, etc to sell in the hall. There will be Novice and Master class indoor comps this year. It will be flown together, open class, but at the awards banquet that night there will be awards for both classes. Marc Ricketts said that he would be there Sunday and Monday. Kay Buesing is adding a casual "Sunday night finger food bragging session sponsored by the Museum". Sound like it will be worth staying through Monday. Help spread the word, this year promises to be the biggest. Thanks, Scott Davis
The Kite Shoppe
Scott, Thanks for the info! We've recieved serveral invites to attend, and we sure wish we could be there! Good job on putting together the event. Looking forward to seeing lots of pictures and reports on the event. Unfortunately, we'll still be at Primm, at the trade show, and won't be able to make it. Wishful thinking here...that next year, it could be held the following weekend???? Have Fun! Theresa
EBGB
Looking foward to it Scotty! Less than a week to go - SWEET! Even built a little something for the bag raffle. Sorry to hear that the Kite Shoppe/TKS Mid-Air folks won't be there though. How rude of them to hold KTAI on the same weekend. You guys go schmooze, and we'll go play! (Get some playing in too if you can)

Penny Lingenfelter
Yup, we missed a lot of people from Ore. We even received an email from Moon and Geezer. They left early Sat. am only to find the roads shut down due to ice. ewwww. We lucked out. Mostly rain at Long Beach. BB Penny
mirecat
It was Awesome! Penny did a great job. She is the biggest influence on my indoor flying. She came and put on a great show! Don's kite built just for the event took in a lot of tickets. It was beautiful. So many fun things happened. I guess that's why it's called a festival! John Barresi
We'd sure love to have a report and photos from the event for all of us who missed it this year... Shake the trees, see if someone is willing to share their experiences.
