SparkieRob
Down coat, thirty plus winds, standard sail, screamin' across the window, in the dark, by the light of the moon, sounds like me for sure! My strategy for Rev purchases is to buy the full sail first especially because of the inland winds. Just worried about you "blowing" a sail, in freezing temps, with 30+ winds, in the dark, with only moonlight........sounds like a rough night ! But if you caught that on video...... Yes, that would be great.............but I'm not going to be out there, under those conditions. Many years ago, may be. But today, NO WAY! SHBKF
The coldest temperature I've flown in is the high teens, not too pleasant. I was concerned about kite materials being a bit brittle but nothing seemed amiss. I like the Rev handles as they are easy to pick up with gloves on. But even If I tear a sail I'll just repair it. I keep hearing about stretched sails but if I've done it I can't really tell at my level. Tightened up the SLE 1.5 bungees once since I've had it. I do have a mid-vent 1.5B & will probably fly it quite a bit this winter. It is the windy time of year here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I will find it irresistible to fly a full sail B2 in strong wind just to hear it buzz & hum. By the light of the moon, in the shining snow, that's my intent. Note my little four lines in my signature. It is some sunrise thoughts from ten years ago that popped into my head while solo winter backpacking, could be my epitaph. In the early morning winter twilight you might glimpse a dark brown tobacco sky here in the mountains. West Australian
Well I have lined up all the options for A Cool Sedgwick Rev 1. Full Race Frame. Full 4 Wrap 1/4" Frame. SLE 4 Wrap Leading Edge. I like options. Hey Dayhiker, Great Pics. I have flown in the Low Teens recently, That was Celsius though You are a mad man sir. And I mean that as a compliment. Never any Snow on my flying field. Frost at times, but never snow.
Wayne Dowler
Extra tidbits; Carl Robertshaw made the centre V deeper on the Masterpiece Rev 1's he makes to connect the wings more. Considered one of the weaknesses of the original Rev 1 design!
Wayne Dowler
Just a query, given the 9 foot wingspan would a 4 wrap frame exhibit similar distortion as a 3 wrap in a 7.5 foot wingspan? Then about a 2 wrap in the 6 foot of the B2?Given they are all the same diameter. Couldn't tell you - I just let my eyes tell me if what I have in there is correct! SparkieRob
Flew WA's Rev1 today in both light frame, race and heavy frame, SLE. I really liked the SLE feel much more. It felt locked in. What a great kite is all I can say.

Flew WA's Rev1 today in both light frame, race and heavy frame, SLE. I really liked the SLE feel much more. It felt locked in. What a great kite is all I can say. Just wondering if WA got the set-up, that he previously mentioned above ? When I had my "Warm Sedgwick Rev I", I too enjoyed flying with the SLE, when the winds were up (much to the disapproval and amusement of many, I'm sure). You are correct on the feel. With that SLE in place, of course, you have much less flex and bend in the leading edge. It definitely felt more solid to me, and as you mention, "locked in". Likewise, it took some wind, to keep that heavy frame off the ground, on the light air days, so as I mentioned in an earlier post, I also had a standard 1/4", 3-wrap, that I could swap out on those days. Made for an entirely different feel, for sure! Tell WA to post us some , of his new "Cool Sedgwick"
Wayne Dowler
I have 2 frames for my Rev I, a race and a 4 wrap 1/4" frame! Now, I mostly use my 1 in light winds, almost like a Zen and pretty much only use the race frame! It does have a more solid feel than my SUL ( bigger, heavier), but I've flown a Zen and I haven't seen much that will fly better in light wind!! But the 1 that I have does the job at the moment! When the wind picks up, it's time for the 1.5's, forget putting a different frame in it!!
West Australian
Reef Runner, I sure did get that set up. And I have Had a chance to try them all out too. I flew the Rev 1 on the Race Frame in low winds and had no trouble keeping it in the air. Except perhaps in reverse. That was a bit more of a challenge. Here it is: I had a light-moderate wind fly with the 1/4" 4 Wrap frame all round. It was nice and slow. The Bigger sail is very graceful. In the Air: In some moderate-strong winds Rob and I flew with the R1 with the 4 Wrap SLE. It does have a very different feel on the SLE. The winds were never very strong, it really only got to about 25km/h (15mph) What surprised me the most was how easily it flew when the wind dropped to about 6km/h (4mph) With the SLE still in. SHBKF
I have the Cool Sedgwick Rev 1 also. I think it looks spectacular in the stormy skies of winter here in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
