Straws on bottom spreader...

I don't recall where I picked this up, but someone described how they'd take a plastic drinking straw and cut it to fit on their bottom spreader where bridles tend to rub during Jacob's Ladders and other slack line tricks... Once cut to length, slit on side length-wise and pop it onto the rod.

I've implemented this on my Sea Devils, and have extended the life of my bridles significantly... Matter of fact, I'll let you know when I wear one out.

The other thing, you might take a pin-drop of super glue and put in under the straw so it doesn't wander around... But it can still be popped off with a little pressure, if you need to work with the rod or fittings.

What type of super glue? Im STILL trying to find a a convenient "carry-along" super glue that works well with rubber, carbon etc..

Cyanoacrylate? I always used to use "Zap-a-Gap"... It's gap filling too, handy for those "not quite right" ferrules.

Great, just what I needed. Gotta find it now

If it matters, ive been doing this on my spreaders with "slurpy" straws. They are stronger/thicker than regular straws. Hold much better w/o glue. Pretty colors too

Ok, just checked, I have been using cryanoacrylate.

The stuff just does NOT want to bond to any carbon. Works fine on wrapped rods though.

I think Ill hunt for the zap-a-gap and try some other brands as well.

I tried it with some crazy straws but my lines just got tangled up...a lot
