John Barresi Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Well, I just spent the last hour pulling apart emoticon pieces... While I'm still trying to figure out the animation deal, I have a good amount of smiley components for anyone who'd like to take a stab at it. - - - - - We're holding a contest for whoever can come up with the best kite smileys for use on the Kitellife forum, multiple submissions are welcome... If we can reach a minimum of 10 total smiley submissions, I'll run a poll here (for all users) so they can select their favorite out of the bunch! Both animated and non-animated smileys will be considered, but here are some ideas... - Flying dual or quad through a dogstake - A team of smileys, flying together - Smiley being pulled by a huge stack - Kite buggying smiley - Etc... Use your imagination! Finished smiley should be no larger than 200px wide, and 80px high. Winner(s) will receive their choice of the following: - 1 year Kitelife subscription (non-subscribers only) - 1 year Basic Web Hosting plan w/Kitelife - 1 Kitelife Sweatshirt or T-Shirt The pieces are in PNG format (Fireworks), one file... If you don't use Fireworks, the PNG file should open up fine in your image editor. Eyes, mouths and bodies are all separated for Fireworks users, otherwise a little cut and paste should work A-OK. Contest ends November 1st, so get cracking! Quote
Mike Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Already had this one lying around-- How about a Rev Dive-Stop (or a newbie crash?) --hmm the image isn't showing up. It's at this link: smiley Quote
John Barresi Posted October 29, 2005 Author Report Posted October 29, 2005 Very cool... But, I'd like to see some generated with the traditional smiley parts. Quote
Mike Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Very cool... But, I'd like to see some generated with the traditional smiley parts. thanks, but I'm not sure I know what you mean since you used to have a smiley like that. Do you mean it should look more like this (it's not animated yet)? Obviously we can't only cut and paste since we need to use additional parts. Also, I still can't get the tag to work. Can you tell me why the above link doesn't work between tags? Thanks. Quote
John Barresi Posted October 30, 2005 Author Report Posted October 30, 2005 Looks great Mike! As for the IMG tags, I would guess we're not set up to display PNGs via that method... Should be able to upload it as an attachment though, or just post a GIF version of it in IMG tags. Just got the one in my signature from JD Fabich, in an non-animated version... Also, the two below, one of which he did animate. Nice work JD... You got me tickled. Keep 'em coming ya'll! Quote
Backspin23 Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Hey John question, how do I put one of my smiliey's into my sig like that? Quote
Backspin23 Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Hermm.... for some reason it won't let me attach and immage to this post? it says "the file size is greater than your per post or global limit" but it is just a tiny 35KB smiley. HELP John HELP thanks Quote
John Barresi Posted October 30, 2005 Author Report Posted October 30, 2005 Hey John question, how do I put one of my smiliey's into my sig like that? [color=blue]John BarresiEditor/Publisher[i][url=http://www.kitelife.com]Kitelife Magazine[/url]==========[color=gray]2006 AKA Sport Kite Committee Chair & International Rules Book Committee[/color][img=http://kitelife.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/jbdogstake.gif][url=http://www.johnbarresi.com]JohnBarresi.com[/url] - [url=http://www.kitelife.com/profiles/cgi/pm.cgi?action=display&login=Kitelife&session=]KL Competitor Profile[/url][/i][/color] Notice, I used an IMG tag since it's on my server but not on the  emoticon list... My own personal one. If it's on the list of usable emoticons on our forum, then you can just use the regular call tag for that smiley. Quote
John Barresi Posted October 30, 2005 Author Report Posted October 30, 2005 Another smiley (modded) from JD (Backspin)... I think what it is JD, it won't take the PNG's for attachments. Also, do you see the white lines? Any idea why they're there, maybe left over as reference points? Edit: Okay, I found it... They're on the Rev components. You might want to pull those out on the next ones. Quote
Backspin23 Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Yup I used thoes to make the rev, and couldn't figure out how to make them transparent again. ....I mean they are speed lines, yeah they make the kite go fast. lol Quote
Backspin23 Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 ok i kinda got my sig workin, but the second pic is animated, soo where can I save it so it is animated? Quote
John Barresi Posted October 30, 2005 Author Report Posted October 30, 2005 Assuming you're in Fireworks, select the Rev component... Then take a freehand selection tool, carefully surround the offending white areas, if you've managed to do it without overlapping into the Rev itself, hit delete. My signature smiley is now cleaned up, same way. And if all fails, ctrl-z is your friend (undo). Quote
Grandpa Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Already had this one lying around--How about a Rev Dive-Stop (or a newbie crash?) --hmm the image isn't showing up.
