Guest Confused2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 I am really confused, can anyone offer a vague description of all the different kite types that people fly these days in the western world (ie Im not talking kites used for weather etc, or fighting kites like in Afghanistan). I understand there are stunt/sports kites and power/traction kites, are there others and if so how are kites usually categorised - by what they look like, what they are used for, how many lines they have? And do most people fly stunt kites, or are there loads of people out there flying those single line massive air creations - what are they called? Quote
John Barresi Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Sounds like a great premise for an article in Kitelife... Anyone up for it? Quote
Penny Lingenfelter Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Not me. But a few words on the different categories. Judging at the county fair seperated the kitemakers kites into categories like cellular, flat and bowed. etc. Kitemakers should write an article for you John. Lets go get us a kitemaker. Hope your having a fun trip. BB Penny Quote

Dorsal Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 If you go to The KiteBuilder Plans they have all them separated by the categories used. There is also a link just above the categories section that links to "Descriptions of the various kite categories as explained in AKA's "Rules & Guidlines for Kitemakers' Competitions" Quote
