  1. I remember when the kite made its first showing. Don Tabor and Eric Streed came to Hawaii to show it off at the first Hawaii CHallange. We were all impressed by the power and survivability in afternoon tradewinds 15-20 mph and ability to out fly stacks Hyperkites & Rainbows with available frame material) in early morning light winds. I ordered mine the first day! I think in that one weekend 30 Hawaiians were sold! An interesting side note: The "Wisker" or "Standoff" was invented in Hawaii. Understand; prior to the Hawaiian, kite fliers pulled their turns (Pull left- go left) on the kites of the time. If you "Pulled" a turn with a Hawaiian, it was lazy and took a lot of arm. If you pushed the turn (Push right to go left) the kite snapped turns and in time the kite (Like modern kites) would fold in the turn, so someone came up with attaching an arrow notch to a piece of fiberglass rod and a piece of tubing on the cross strut to hold it taunt. Not only did they solve a major issue but created the added the ability to self launch! I understand this is not the "For Sale" thread but if thr price is right! It's a rare "Arrow" graphic signed on the tag by Don Tabor.
  2. It was a yellow paper on wood frame with a rocket image. My mom cut some rags for a tail and we got some of my grandmothers cotton twine (She had a huge spool) and I wrapped the string on a broken plier handle. Flew it every day for weeks till it was more tape than paper. A couple years ago my mom found the string still on the broken plier in the back corner of the garage, she has it displayed in front of my picture of me flying in Thailand. Great thread!
  3. I've got enough kites, I'll take the cash. As for the Rev factory, been there - done that.
  4. What would you two be willing to pay for it?
  5. Sorry John and 4 liner's world wide I DO have a "Rev" Actually it's a Neos Omega.... Pink and Blue Has less than 20 hours on it. I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember S***) Maybe I'll just inventory my kites to really see what I have in the back corner.
  6. I started in 1983 in Hawaii. I saw some guy's flying stacks and thought it was cool, a friend told me about a kite shop near Daimondhead and I saw guys flying at the park across the street and I went in. When I found out each kite in the stack cost $22 I walked out there thinking "They're crazy!" Then I watched the guys in the park... I went back in and got one white and one black hyperkite (How Lame) with the plan of buying one every week or two. I had 8 by the second week. The owner of the shop gave me a lesson, and over time we became good friends. I must say, If it wasn't for Robert Loera (Owner of Kite Fantasy) I don't think I would have gone/done as much in kiting, the friends I've made (John you're one of them) It was a shame to see kiting change and his shop close. Hooked.

  8. Wow, I've been away from a kite shop too long! I still have a spool of 120lb and 200lb Kevlar! (When Spectra came out, I used the kevlar to keep from get crowded out) I've been flying on Shanti spectra circa 1997 (Last time I purchased line) mostly. BTW...Hey John, Is there any way you can change my status? I may not have a lot of posts but I've been flying longer than you! And "Newbie" just doesn't fit.

  12. I am (9 months out of the year) proud to say I live in Phoenix! Actually Chandler (A suburb). The Route 66 club is semi-active as a group of flyers but the website is idle due to the founders other interests. I welcome you to the fine city! Enjoy a baseball game in air conditioned comfort of Bank One Ballpark, Soak yourself in one of our many water parks. Drive north for a day in mystical Sedona... or south to Karchner caverns (The most pristine cave in the world. BUT!!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR KITES!!! The winds come up around mid-afternoon and that saying "It's a dry heat?" Well, it feels like a convection oven out on the field. We're in 108deg days now and the only outdoor events are water related. If you insist in bringing a kite or 10, send me an email and I'll point you in the direction of a few good fields. Flying in Phoenix in the summer... Now THATS gutsy! Michael
  13. Kites unlimited is the ONLY place to get them. Hyperkites (The company) closed its doors in 1998 after the dominance of the "Big Wing" took over the stunt kite community. Chances are you have Hyperkite "Star-Cruisers" (28" wing span) If you do purchase more, consider re-framing the whole stack with the latest frame stock and replace the trainlines (Lines between the kites) with kevlar or spetra. The performance will be quite noticable. If you need more help or info, send me an Email. Michael Here's a pic of my baby...
  14. Spenuki, Well if you remember, I was on the Elite team. I've got the "Old" logo sets of big wings as well as 2 of the logo stacks (Just skins in a bag), I've also got the last set of stacks from the San Diego edition of the Elite team. It's been a while Spencer, I don't own anything newer than my MEFM! I Love flying stacks more than anything else. And if you remember... I've got the #2 Seven Sisters kite as well. You should post pictures of YOUR kites! You have quite a few in your bag the "Mainlanders" would love to see!
  15. John and Fellow Kiter's, Thought I would air out some of my kites a share them in the photo album section. I will swap out some pic's with others. Coming soon.... Nagel 7 Sisters Martin Lester Shark Peter Lynn 2.0 Peel (#15 prototype) Peter Lynn 2.5 Peel and Buggy More....
