  3. hi philm63 i agree with what has already been said. as a newbie myself i had 7 kites in my first 2 or 3 months of flying before i realized i needed something for the 0 to light wind range. i chose an Into The Wind Echo - both an indoor as well as outdoor (up to 7mph) kite for $139. the jury is still out but so far i really like it. at 4 oz (including the removable keel weight-6g) it performs like the other suls but also does the tricks. its the first kite flown on many days where i would normally be sitting waiting for "just a little more wind". be prepared if you go down there for the kites to be fragile...i havent broken anything yet but my wife has...she crashes a bit more than me and still freezes up and augers in...result: broken T. good thing she was flying Her Echo lol anyway Ocean Shores Kites fixed her up for a few bucks and she went right back to flying - 5mph winds at the beach that day well thats my 2 cents good luck on whatever you get Bob
  4. hi Breeezin i'm reading with interest...always enjoy your posts...that's reason enough to buy the tica, so this newbie flyer can have kite reviews before i make my next kite choice. lol your comments about the hydra helped make that choice. btw i picked up the echo at itw ...also a DeBakker design. good kite but at 4 oz. its a little delicate. anyway keep up the good work i know you'll make the right choice (sorry, sounds like im talking to one of my kids lol) Bob
  5. thanks mark and wayne wayne on facebook i usually use my wifes page. i guess that will work. i've flown once at broughton next to saltys isnt it? anyway i have a birthday party for a grandson over in la center this sunday (not too far for a little flying either before or after}
  6. thanks John and hello everyone. i'm a kite addict i was loaned a skydog little wing last may, kinda learned to fly it and the rest is history as you all know. since then i bought a few prism kites...nexus,quantum,zephyr,jazz,hypnotist,e3. after awhile i outgrew the quantum and gave it to my youngest son who was trying to wreck it anyway, gave the jazz to my wife, and gave my next older son the hypnotist to repay him for the loan of his little wing. well that put a dent in my quiver...so i got a hydra and liked it so much i got another (for the wife)...and so it goes... we live along the columbia river about 50 miles downstream from portland, oregon so i hope to get with local flyers and mix it up. i fly at kalama on a spit of sand about 200yds by 400 yds on the river-nice wind. i also fly at willow grove park, also on the river west of longview. i invite any and all to come check it out. thats it for now, thanks again for the welcome.
