  1. I had to take new pictures because it would only bring up the latest 30 pictures. The yellow one I added some wierd trailing edge flaps to make it really noisey. Kind of fun in strong wind. The Fulcrum quad is sewn but not framed so it is next. I can't fly it but Chuck is an awesome pilot. Let you know. Awesome the machine is working so get to work?
  2. The pink picture went through? I think. Hate all this technology. My great friend that has a kite shop in Chattanooga, River City Kites, Chuck Jones went to Austin for his master's in mathematics. Awsome liberal town the opposite of the conservative buckel of the bible belt here. 7 churches in a square mile where I live. I use all bamboo from my back yard bamboo jungle. .3 - .5 mm microcarbon rods are best for the cross spar and bamboo for spin. We use mylar ie foil wrapping for sails or icarex or different types of low stretch plastics. Often paper too. Just fly paper when ground is dry. Enough rambling. I will try the picture send another day. Fly High I do?
  3. Well I told you I am lame at all this crazy information share stuff.
  4. Thanks for the tech support lesson. I'm so not tech savvy. If it's too much trouble I just don't care to do it. Sounds easy enough so I will give it a try. Chattanooga's annual kite festival is next Saturday. Get the word out. They have to have a kite safety person so good friend volunteered me for it for second year. I'm the one that should need supervision. Great fun awaits. Will try and send so picture from my gallery file? Well it sent the last picture I had sent my sister on how tiny my fighter kites are. I'll figure it out tomorrow and send you my stunt kite creations
  5. Mary Anne at kites and fun things will be glad the help you out. Just shoot her an email. She has a pre cut and ferruled spar kit for a Rev Quad. Think they are CXL sky shark. Even has 3 types for different wind conditions. Not many other parts. Good you are using icarex. Great stuff. Would not use seam stick. Just sew everything and don't worry how ugly it looks. It will fly fine. Don't forget quad line and handles. If you have any problems I'll try and help. Don't know computer sh*t well so only know how to send pictures through email. Have some interesting fighter kite designs I sort of made up. Fight on!
  6. Keep me updated on your kite creation. How it looks doesn't matter so just know it will fly just fine.
  7. A Rev Quad would probably be the easiest to sew. You can even make it out of a single piece of fabric. Happy Sewing! Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  8. Your plans won't turn out like you expect so just sew and frame up. Bridle type is important to success so make all spar attachment points adjustable with lackheads.
  9. Make a few Hata fighter kites. Best fun for no money?
  10. I advise to cut your sail into half pieces then sew the middle with Dacron strip. Orientate rip stop pattern parallel to outer spars. Way easier than multiple pattern pieces. Bungee sail stretching is easier than Vlelcro and easier
  11. CMade plenty of tiny dual line kites and they fly with very strong winds usually. Don't get hung up on line quality. Spectra is non stretchy and can wrap alot without friction but crazy expensive. Polyester line is fine and really cheap. I suck at quad line flying so prefer dual line kites. Quad kites are very easy to sew and the revs can be framed with a kit from Kites and Fun Things for a great price. CXL sky shark rod kit specifically for Quads. I suggest bungee tension on quads. John Barashi can probably help you out because he IS THE QUAD KING. He designs and builds his propriototy kites. One of the worlds best quad fliers. Whatch his Dr Drea water skipping ballet. So smooooth.
  12. Sure you are informed of the Chattanooga Montague John Henry sculpture field festival April 22 Saturday. Love to befiend you and see your mastery of the QUAD! Michael ps Don't forget to bring extra fun?

  14. Could be the main drive belt to the motor slipping. Tighten if really loose. Belts with notches probably isn't slipping but smooth ones often slip and stretch with age. Don't over tighten. Check all the cams that rotate on the main horizonal drive shaft. Tighten any loose set screws. The cam that spins the round bobbin case if tight and in alignment,ie timing, should spin and pick up the tread from the needle with the hook on the wheel. You Tube shows how the adjust timing if yours isn't pulling the tread up. Other great videos on different problems. That's where I learned everything. Good luck. Make sure gears really are working properly by turning machine manual and checking. Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  15. SourenU. I replaced the plastic gear that turns the feed dog on a Singer. It involves dismantling the case to get to the bottom of the case where the 2 gears are that run off the cam. If your lucky they aren't broke. It will be easy to tell. The cam set screw might be loose so check that first. Please take lots of detailsed pictures because there are lots of screws and parts to put on. I label where all screws go with a diagram and place them on it. It's really not that hard. Think part was from Siinge Parts.com. Might check with repair shop first if your not good at fixing things. The Fulcrum quad I just traced a picture and enlarged the dimensions then traced a pattern. Frame details are on Sky Burner.com. The most comprehensive kite plan site I found is Kite Plans. Org. Details are usually included. Kites and Fun Things has the cheapest spars for sure. They are the main Sky Shark distributor. Second are really cheap and just cosmetics issues. That's what I always get. Camo pattern rods are great deal too. Ask for Mary Ann for any help. She is very helpful. Other questions ask Chuck at Scenic City Kites in Chattanooga. Don't give up on Fighters. They are by far my go to kites for a good time. I fly half scale homemade ones usually. Fast and furious. Have fun!
  16. Awsome find. The feed dog is a fairly easy fix. Often the set screw in the cam that spins that part just needs to be retightend. Repaired the feed dog gears on a Singer and wasn't that bad. Best the take multiple pictures when dismantling. Good luck. Saved yourself alot of money. What type of kites do you make? I've made 2 8 ft. Dual line and 1 quad that is all finished except framing it. It's a Fulcom design. The others are a mirage and hypnotist sort of. Mirage is really responsive and vey twichy, as I like them. Both have turbo bridles with lenght adjustments at all spar attachment ponts. Will send you a picture if I get your emails. Really lame at tech stuff so email is how I do most things. No Facebook or any other social media except reddit. Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  17. SourenU, You probably don't need a heavy duty machine if it's just for kites. You can pick up a used machine at resale shop or yard sale for next to nothing. I bought a simple brother for $10 and I love it. Easy to use and not complacated to fix and parts are cheap and available. Just test it out first. Good hunting! Michael marmarasmichael@gmail.com
  18. Just remembered his name was something like Black Star or Dark Star?
  19. Walked a novice kite builder through his first build. Forgot his name but bottom spreader broke first flight and he replaced with the appropriate size and even went for the tappered sky shark. Haven't heard from him since as I go months without computer interest. Back on line for a while
  20. The foils have been buzzing around here lately. Apparently new interest in the sport here. Awsome area and topography for it. Seen some real dare devil stunts up there. More nerve than I have. Looks so fun. Come by here if you have the opportunity to have all sorts of fun
  21. Its in Awsome Chattanooga off Main St at 23rd 50 acrear city park with sculptures that are donated and rotated often from all over. Some are ginormious. No charge for any event just bring a great attitude and fun will prevail
  22. Hey John,. Those inflatable kites must be very complicated to design ,sew, and especially behave at different wind ranges. Martin, Chuck's good friend, used to make them. Montegue Park ie. Sculpture Field is having an event Saturday. Mostly an evening event at 5 for a sculpture burn party. I imagine alot of fun though out the day. I will be flying wind or not. Maybe see you there. Michael
  23. Been a while posted but forgot password. Hey John B and fun seekers, looking forward to cooler windier days. Still mainly fly miniature fighter kites. No set up or hassle. Just fun. Kids seem to catch on to them fast too. Have a high flying fall
  24. Those spars should work great. Not familiar with Freedom but you know it's way easier build than last. Have FUN!
