  1. How about that Blue painter's tape, and putting it on both sides of the kite, at the vents ? Anybody tried that ?
  2. Sounds like the South !
  3. Yes, I've been watching & suspected 100 was a threshold. I noticed your "Fair Weather Cruiser" & thought maybe it was some kind of special honor you had been given. Now I'll have to ponder what mine might be, perhaps "no eye deer" or "May the forest be with you". Check your profile page (in EDIT mode). You may be able to change it (Member Title). If not, obviously that threshold is above 100 (?), but again I don't know. I just went there one day, and it let me change it ............
  4. I always wondered how that worked.........when you get to a certain point, you can name "yourself". I don't know what that number is.
  5. How many drawings have you won lately ?
  6. I'm in.............. Lucky # 21
  7. Not yet............waiting for my lucky (post) number to come up...............hope I don't miss it tomorrow, while I'm traveling...........
  8. Now, now !
  9. 1..If you hadn't realized your own mistake, well, I'd hate to say ! 2..So, being in Oz, ought to make all that "inverted hovering", easy for you guys !
  10. Hey Wayne, We'll have to cut him some slack this time..........he's working !
  11. "Arsed about" - that's one way of saying it............no sweat..........I'm sure it's easy to think one way, and the write the other, especially when you are already, "up-side down"........ Just ribbing you SR...................Have a nice weekend..............I'm off to the coast..............cya
  12. Why from the kite back to staked straps? Now Sparkie, do you "DownUnder" guys, do everything backwards ? (just kidding) Because when you go back out the next time to fly, your straps will be on the outside. You stake them down, and walk the line out, attach your kite, then go back and fly. Also, when you finish flying for the day, and you land the kite, you stake your handles or straps, the walk out and disconnect the lines from the kite, and seems logical to begin winding right there, back to the kite. Just makes sense to me, but of course, everyone has their own way........... See >> http://kitelife.com/forum/videos/view-41-rev-tutorial-line-management/
  13. Wayne's right...........Yep, and that residue will just love grass and/or sand !...........I'd never put any kind of adhesive, on a kite, if possible. Even if you patch with Tedlar tape, you'll get build-up around the perimeter of the patch..........yuk !
  14. Now that I look, more closely, that kinda looks like a Barbara Meyer DC..........from ITW..........? Yes - No ???
  15. That's NOT my - "I'm In" post...............but I'll get to it soon......
  16. Mike, their website does leave a little to be desired. Their desire is to not become an internet sales hub. They want to keep their brick and mortar identity. They have a facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FlyingSmilesKites) that has some pictures of some of the stuff they sell. They have anything you could want Rev, they sell Prism now, Into the Wind, etc. Cath or Eliot (Eliot is a Rev Masterpiece kite maker) would be glad to chat with you on the phone if you win to help you find something to spend that gift certificate on. They are quality people that have helped me out a lot in my growth as a flyer. I wanted to send a bit of the Karma their way as well. I hope people don't shy away from this one because they don't have the best website. Mike, I can attest to what Barton has said. Cath & Eliot are great folks, and they are indeed, a real "brick & mortar" kite store. We are talking a R-E-A-L kite store, where people care about "You", and the "Kites" they sell. They are NOT just another tourist trap, located on the coast. They will take you out for a test flight, anytime, and help you through any questions or concerns that you may have. I realize that the "test flight", is a little out of the way for you, but trust us, you can get anything you need from them. Give them a call, chat for a while, and you'll see............just plain "good folks".........
  17. Thanks Thanks, just been trying to get it ready for the coast. Don't know that we are going to have any decent wind next week, but if so, I'll be ready. As for the shop, definitely no staging, just hot as heck out there (NO A/C), but it's my tinkering spot. Couldn't do without it ! As for poking holes in a kite, I'm definitely not afraid to "improvise", or "experiment", when necessary. Surely nothing I couldn't fix, if I messed up. I was surprised, however, that there was no connection point, on the kite, for attaching a tail. I'm with Wayne, I wouldn't want to attach it to the bridle, either, so I'm kinda glad I ran across ChessGirl's post, concerning this kite. Saved me some aggravation, next week......... I may go by the "Wright Kite Festival", up at the Wright Brother's Memorial, late Saturday afternoon, or maybe Sunday, just depends on the weather............ Will be in touch..........
  18. Hey Wayne, I just fixed mine a few minutes ago - exact same kite. The "T", that you mentioned, is on the bottom of the spine, upside down, of course, and it is wrapped with a Velcro strap, to hold it in place. Pretty typical set-up, where you pull the Velcro strap up tight, to tension the entire sail, along the spine. Anyway, that top part of the "T", which is oriented towards the bottom of the kite, is just inside that Velcro strap, and it is hollow, so it's very simple to pass a short piece of bridle line, or something, directly through that hollow tube to form a pigtail for attaching tails. I actually, put two very small holes in my Velcro strap, so my pigtail goes through the Velcro strap, then through the tube (which is the top of the upside down "T"), back through the strap and out. I tied the ends together, so I could stuff that knot inside of the hollow "T", or you could just do that outside. I then put a second knot in the end of the pigtail loop, so I could lark's head kite tails to it. Should be ready to go...........I can also remove the visible knot, that is outside, and then use that loop to lark's head to a kite tail, should the tail have a knot, instead of a loop, or use it as is, and lark's head to it........ (some of my tails have knots, some have loops) The reason for the holes, in the Velcro strap, is that the top of the "T", where the pigtail passes through, is not as wide, as the Velcro strap, hence, when you pulled against the pigtail, it bunched up the strap. My holes are spaced exactly, so now it won't do that now, because the pigtail now pulls on the outer ends of the "T", and not on the edge of the strap. I put the two small (1/8") holes through the Velcro strap, with a pointed soldering iron. Hope this makes sense.........Oh well, let me take a pic.......a few pics are worth a thousand words........
  19. How long is that tail you are pulling...........
  20. Hmmm multi-vent kites...........interesting
  21. Well, you ain't seen twitchy yet !
  22. Congratulations Barton..........have fun !
  23. That's just sick (and not the good sick), just sick ! Looks like you need a BUTT pad to fly that thing........
  24. That's even better............Is that 10' - 12' ?
  25. Hey Rob, Is that DC, your kite ? .......... what a beauty !
