  1. And just for fun these are my babies. Left to right: Zephyr, 4D, Hypnotist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The first is the back of the sail with the broken one and the remaining one. The second shot shows the good one with the retaining cap removed. I can pry them off with a fingernail, then push them back on. Kind of hope the replacement version is a screw on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I will post pics when I get a chance. And take a closer look at the others (the not broken ones). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks. Hopefully it's obvious. I will respond once I get it all together to close the loop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. One of the standoffs on my Zephyr came off. I still have it but it looks like I lost the retainer piece that goes on the back of the sail. New parts are on order. Anyone know if the retainer piece just snaps on or is some kind of glue required? Any help would be appreciated. Dave Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I am trying to keep my hands by my sides a little more. I am working on holding a fade and find I nosedive a lot. Being able to throw my arms forward while taking a quick step helps minimize the impact. It still feels a little unnatural. Also, I find I can axle better due to the slack coming easier. 7. Definitely call them and work something out that fits with your travel plans. They bend over backwards to keep their customers happy. I needed a nose repair and they replaced the sail with a demo sail for the same price ($15 including shipping). I also have a Hypnotist and the first trick I mastered was the lawn dart. Still no damage to the nose or spine. My guess is you either found the only rock on that beach, the spine was defective, or the shock system was not properly set up. 8. Still trying to master holding a fade. Also working on various fade entries (e.g. flare to fade, axle to fade...). Something about the axle to fade I just find so cool. Plus I think once I can properly hold a fade I will be able to move on to other tricks that start there.
  9. Got my two older kids (7 and 5 at the time) the HQ Bebop last summer. They were able to fly them in the steadier winds at the beach. Where we live (inland) the winds are not as steady and I spend most of the time helping them re-launch. It's a little frustrating for them, so I don't push it unless the winds ramp up. I like the idea of tails to keep their attention, I will have to pick up some.
  10. Hi Dave - I got a Zephyr for Christmas and have only flown it a few times, but just love it. I also have a Hypnotist for the bigger winds. Interesting how different the two kites are in terms of inputs required. Takes some getting used to. I love how pitchy the Zephyr is. Goes into a turtle so easily. And it also wraps up for yo-yos just as easily. I have been away from flying since January and recently just got back into it. Pulled off my first rung of a JL with the Zephyr recently. I was so surprised I didn't have the wherewithal to try for a second rung!
  11. Happy holidays everyone. The sun came out and it was blowing a gale most of the day. But there was a Zephyr under the tree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Merry Festivus! Now where's that pole? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. That thing is really moving. What are the line specs? I imagine that thing needs a pretty big window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. With the limited time I have I feel it's best to hone my skills in one area. But someday I am sure I will try Revs. They look so cool. But right now I have dualie-fever. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Someday when I cross over to the dark side Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Like that "catch and release" technique. Never seen that before.
  17. I hear that. I am at the other end of the spectrum with flying. Only been at it about a year so still plenty to learn. Got in about 90 minutes with my hypnotist yesterday, maybe my longest session in 6 months. That felt great. Almost got one rung of a JL (got all confused during the half-lazy). Would be nice if there were other fliers around. Glad to have the forum to feel connected somehow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Someday. Once I have satisfied my two-line craze I would love to try a quad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Sweet slides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Congrats! A little jealous. I second the thanks to HQ!
  21. Interesting thread. I would like to offer my 2 cents if I may. I think the fact that the sport is wind-dependent is a big factor. The wind is unpredictable to most people so they can't plan on when they will be able to fly. You can't just say, "I am going to fly this Saturday" and go. There needs to be wind (for most). Also, as mentioned earlier, most people have no idea about sport kites and their capabilities. I was into SLKs (delta's, box, etc.) as a kid and remember the first time I saw a dualie. My mind was blown. And all the other kid did was go back and forth along the horizon. No slack line tricks at all. But that was so much cooler than just letting out and reeling in the SLK. Then one day I was looking online and came across all the videos of slack-line tricks. That did it for me.
  22. Glad they were good to you too. It says a lot about them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Called Prism to find out about the cost of a nose repair for my 4D. They said $15 and that includes return postage. Wow! So on Saturday I sent them my sail. On Tuesday they called me back to say "your sail looks pretty worn out so we are going to just replace it with a lightly used demo sail." Same price...$15. Got the sail back today, Friday. It looks practically new. I am definitely a happy camper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Sweet. I have thought about adding a length of material to act as a fold over flap to prevent things from falling out. But so far no issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. You are a man of many talents. I can see myself going to "The Dark Side" someday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
