Kitemap down?

I am looking for recommendations for flying fields, and found http://www.kitemap.org/ through this site. Unfortunately the map is showing up with a spinning wheel and a blank box. Also, if I go directly to a like for a location I am getting a "Error 404 - Page not found!" error.

Is the site still functional?

Aye, we're having issues with the Google API - are likely than not, KiteMap will be phased out soon. 😢

Ah, that is unfortunate. Is the data on the locations also stuck behind the Google API issues? Even just having a flat list of locations, or grouped my state/country with links to the individual pages would be invaluable. The map is really nice to have, but the data itself is more valuable.

Andy Scott (UK) is the technical mind behind the site, I provided only consultation and hosting aspects - as I understand it the API interface has changed to favor "charge for usage" and eliminated some of the free functionality KiteMap was built on. *hands in the air*

While the library has evolved, it is still open. If he isn't updating it, would it be possible to open it up for others to update?
