The Kite Shoppe Posted December 18, 2006 Author Report Posted December 18, 2006 Got this from Scott yesterday: I can't believe it, 6 years running now! The longest running indoor kite festival in the world! Yes, folks, the 6th annual Windless Kites Festival is coming up. The event is held in the Long Beach Elementary School, 400 Washington Ave N., Long Beach, WA. There will be kites on display, fighter kite demonstrations, free-flying time, an indoor competition, indoor stunt kite demonstration, and even an indoor Hot Trick Shoot-out. Jan. 12th the festival begins at 4pm with an evening of informal free-flying. Time to get reacquainted with your indoor kites or try flying indoors for the first time. Just speak up and you'll get a free lesson! Saturday, Jan 13th will begin in the morning with more free-flying time. At 10am the demonstrations will start. Some more free-flying through the lunch hour and at 2pm there will be the indoor competition. At 6pm the banquet begins. It will be an Italian potluck. At the banquet, awards will be presented and there will be a auction / raffle, with the proceeds going to the World Kite Museum in Long Beach. So bring an Italian dish or salad, and an item for the raffle. Sunday, Jan. 14th, will bring even more free-flying time, demonstrations, and at 11am an indoor ''Hot Trick Shoot-out''. Last year the event was a huge success and this year promises to be bigger. To compete in either or both of the competitions you must be a current AKA member and there will be a $10 registration fee. So come spend the long weekend with us, you won't regret it! Scott Davis Quote

EBGB Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 Got here last night in time for dinner - just in time before the roads froze up for the night... In talking to others, it seems like we came the wrong way. I'm guessing you came out highway 30 like we did. Highway 4 was apparently better (more of the road is in the sun). The other option from the North - I-5 to 12 to 101 was apparently the best, despite it being pretty much back roads the whole way. It's nice to be here. That cool Windless atmosphere is kicking in. Demos, comps, dinner, and lots of free fly time today. Quote
Penny Lingenfelter Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 We knew we weren't going to be able to make it to this event. To bad, we stay in a hotel with a decent hot tub. So, I don't want to wait till an article comes out. How did it go? What happened? Who won? How did IQuad do inside? What's new this year? Inquiring minds that missed the event want to know. Hope everyone made it home safe. BB Penny Quote
