sky fish
I have been noting that the edges of some of my favorite kites seam to be fraying. Is this normal ware and tear? some kites are only 6 months old what can be done to prevent or slow this proses down.? also I have one kite that seams to have a oder it was flown at the ocean but I gave it a bath and let it dry for a week before putting it in the bag. Is there some particular soap or laundry detergent that should be used ?Id like to keep the my kites all looking good and fresh for the field. fall winds to all
Penny Lingenfelter
Fraying comes with kites. You can trim, maybe try a stop fray, but I doubut if it word work well. Any detergent recommended? I don't think so. Good luck. BB Penny
CLTKiter
I picked up a little bottle of "Fray Check" at my local sewing/fabric store. It seems to stop the fraying immediately without making the kite look bad. I now have treated the edges of the leading edge of each of my Rev's. John Barresi
Doug, please let us know how it works out after a few flights?
Mousie
I use a hot knife to seal the edges. That way there is no fraying. I have done this to correct the fraying also, but please be careful if you have not used one before. One slip and eek.. I know when my kites get dirty, I take em right into the shower with me lol. plain old water works grand.
