sirrom
Hi Everyone, I awoke this morning to find my car broken into and the only thing they took was my kite bag. This was a blue New Tech bag with all my kites line sets, extra quad rods just everything. I thought if I listed what kites I had if anyone sees or hears of any of these being listed online for sale you could let me know. Sea Devil Sul White with Blue Wave, REV Std SLE 1.5 Red/Whit Black, REV Vented B-Series Blue /Black, New Tech French Connection Blue/Black, Level One Jump Black/Red, New Tech Fire Storm Red/White/Black, I-nak I also had 5 sets of 50# Quad line sets. 4 sets of 90# Quad line sets, 6 sets of 50# dual line sets, 6 sets of 90# line sets and a 200# & 250# line set, Wind meter and 3 kite stakes (one was a blue marble from Walt), A tube containing quad rods 2 sets of each (2-Wrap, 3-wrap, 4-wrap) There are a few older kites but these were the main things I can remember. Any help would be appreciated I am really going to miss the Rev's and Sea Devil the most. Just flew both Thursday

sirrom
Thanks everyone for all your good thoughts and especially to Amy for reducing, cropping, and posting my kite pictures. I'm still adding to my list of other things that were in the kite bag! We've had quite a day of dumpster diving, police reports and pawn shop visits. It's just so very irritating! Thanks for getting the word out. Hopefully we will have good news to report one of these days!

Thanks for getting the word out. Hopefully we will have good news to report one of these days! That's terrible news! I'll let you know if someone calls me trying to sell or trade at The Shoppe. Let's hope your outcome is as positive as Amy's and the police recover them!!! Good luck Brett. Theresa

You've got many eyes looking out for you! Exactly! I got lucky.. and I talked to Brett last night by phone for a bit. He has done all the right stuff and covered all his bases, so hopefully it will be the same scenario as mine. crossing fingers. I did my share of dumpster diving as well.. ugh. sirrom
Hi All I just got a call from the Medford Police Department. They went out to a domestic disturbance and the cop recognized the Kite Bag from someplace. He went to check (pictures on his computer?) and ended up arresting one and are working on the arrest of the actual one that took it. We have no idea if all the kites are in it…or what condition they are in. He wants me to call him on Monday so he can get the bag back to me and check the contents He said it was the bag that caught his eye in the room in a corner. The pictures I had given them that morning they did the trick. I will update you on Monday. I can breathe a little better. Thanks for your support
Baloo
That is FANTASTIC news. Hope all is well with the contents. Tiz a bummer that you have to wait till Monday, I would be tearing my hair out (what little I have) with having to wait. I am sending posotive vibes your way. cerfvoliste
Outstanding Brett.... I don't think I would be able to wait either. Will they let you come down and look, or at least describe the contents to you? The cost of those kites, puts it in the "Grand Theft" range, I hope they stick it to them. If there is a trial let me know, I would like to be there. Rx
Choccy
Excellent news indeed... I believe this is called "the tipping point..."!
sirrom
They are all Home :) Monday I went to the police department and they brought out MY Kite Bag. I really was not sure if it was going to be mine, but there it was. I went through the bag and could tell someone had been through it, but looked like everything was there. Today I took all the kites out for a wash job and made sure there were no broken parts. The police said it was the photo of the kite bag that really helped. The description was OK, but the photo did the trick. The morning of the theft my wife pulled up a photo from an Internet kite shop of my bag and printed it for the officer. It does pay to have photos of all your stuff. They did arrest a 22 & 23 year old for 4 counts of theft and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle. One was also charged with meth possession and parole violation. Both have bail set at $10,00 & $14,000. They live a couple miles away and were probably going house to house looking for whatever they could find. Anyway thanks for all your support and hope to see you sometime on the beach. I'll be in Lincoln City for their indoor kite festival in a couple of weeks. Thanks again Amy for everything!
Jim Foster
Great news....... Everyone should thank the Medford Police Department. Let them know how the "kite community" spread the word to support Brett, and how nice it is that they followed through and got the kites returned. Not many outside our "family" understand this kind of loss, and what it means to get these kites back. You can thank them here: http://www.ci.medford.or.us/FormPage.asp?FormID=
sirrom
Thanks Jim They are sometimes unappreciated. But this time they came through with FLYING COLORS I did send them a message and invited them to come fly with me anytime.

sirrom
Hi all, Wanted to give you an update on the theft and return of my kites. The thief (21 yrs. old) is still in jail with 4 counts of theft-1, 2 counts of theft-2 and 3 counts of UEMV (Unlawful Entry of Motor Vehicle). His bail is at $14,000, but he is still in jail. No word yet if and when a trial is set. This is the best news: :P I was talking to a neighbor of mine, who is also a member of the City Council. He told me that last month this case was brought up by the Chief of Police at a city council meeting. The police chief told the city council what had happened and that they had found the kites because of the photo of the bag. There was an arrest and the kites were returned to the victim. My friend told the council "That's my neighbor, and he's very grateful". The police cheif also told them that the kiting community had e-mailed over 50 thank yous and well done letters to their office. My friend said the police chief was very impressed by these responses from all over the US and world. Thank you everyone for your support. I know our police department had no idea of all the kite fliers out there and the support and communication we have with each other! Again I wanted to say thank you and a special thanks to those of you that sent in a response to the police department. I will keep you posted if and when there is a trial.
