Progcraft Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 On July 2nd & 3rd, 2005 the skies over Pincher Creek, Alberta will come alive with hundreds of colourful kites. Beside the lake and against a backdrop of blue snow-capped mountains, be prepared to let your imagination soar as kites climb into the crystal-clear air. This is a day for you and your family to relax and enjoy a unique event, in spectacular surroundings. The Children of the Wind festival is combining with Canada day and the Alberta Centennial to bring you a truely unique Alberta event. As part of the activities there will be custom made, hand-built Rokakku kites with the Alberta Coat-of-Arms flying alongside Maple Leaf kites. New events are also in the works includeing Candy drops, Bol Races, and new demo fields to help you fly a kite yourself. Along with new events, this year promises to showcase a wide variety of kites not previously seen. Including a newly built 215 square foot Molar Flowform and a huge, 208 kite, triple tiered, pyrimid kite arch! And of course, topping off Saturday night will be a fireworks show to rival any other (in this part of the country). It really is a great show of light set off from the beach of the Oldman Resivoir. Visit the new website here: www.windykids.ca The site is still in it's early stages, but is being built as fast as possible. Check back often for the last updates. The Children of the Wind welcomes you into our corner of the country. Come by and fly a kite. It's a good thing! Cheers, Terry Thillmann Festival commitee member Children of the Wind Kite Festival http://www.windykids.ca/ Quote

Progcraft Posted April 27, 2005 Author Report Posted April 27, 2005 Wow!! Even more great news!! I have just confirmed John & Marzlie Freeman as guests for the festival this year So that is a great boost to this years events. And, even better (for me anyways) is that they will also be attending the Swift Current festival which is one week before our festival. So, to kill some time, I'm taking a vacation and going there too followed by spending the next week flying kites with John and Marzlie and David Tuttle and who knows who else To me, it's worth giving up Dieppe. I wonder if I should take my sewing machine and some fabric  P. Quote
