John Barresi Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Hehehehe... Yeah, we've gone silly in this thread.
Guest Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 So here's the story I mentioned earlier: Two monks were strolling by a stream on their way home to the monastery. They were startled by the sound of a young woman in a bridal gown, sitting by the stream, crying softly. She needed to cross to get to her wedding, but she was fearful that doing so might ruin her beautiful handmade gown. In this particular sect, monks were prohibited from touching women. But one monk was filled with compassion for the bride. Ignoring the sanction, he hoisted the woman on his shoulders and carried her across the stream--assisting her journey and saving her gown. The second monk was livid. "How could you do that?" he scolded. "You know we are forbidden even to touch a woman, much less pick one up and carry her around!" The offending monk listened in silence to a stern lecture that lasted all the way back to the monastery. His mind wandered as he felt the warm sunshine and listened to the singing birds. After returning to the monastery, he fell asleep for a few hours. He was jostled and awakened in the middle of the night by his fellow monk. "How could you carry that woman?" his agitated friend cried out. "Someone else could have helped her across the stream. You were a bad monk!" "What woman?" the tired monk inquired groggily. "Don't you even remember? That woman you carried across the stream," his colleague snapped. "Oh, her," laughed the sleepy monk. "I only carried her across the stream. You carried her all the way back to the monastery."

John Barresi Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 I follow, but it's not really a joke... Rather practical story.

Guest Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Well, it's late on the EC. Looks like Jones is either sleeping or off in the library doing exhaustive research (I'd suggest it would be a looonnnggg time for him to find something to back up his grandiose claim.) Personally, although I must retire now, I can only add... DIE THREAD, DIE! For anyone who was listening in to my original shout-out, then I repeat my well wishes. For any friends from the past who may have seen this, "Hi, it's been a long time. We often miss you." For Mike, I wish you well, too. Good luck in whatever you choose to do. I hope you find your peace, 'cause it doesn't look like you're all too settled today. Truly. Good luck. I did not mean to cause a disruption, and don't feel that I did. On the other hand, it must've been entertaining. As I sign off, there's seven or eight people watching to see what happens next. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm out for the night! /bh
John Barresi Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Nah, this was a tickle... Post anytime Bob, Mike as well. Topic locked.
John Barresi Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Alright, I can't help myself. From Mike Jones: Ultimate Questions: a catalog of 30 kite stunts from Michael Allan Jones http://www.kitelife.com/kitelines/issues-x/v5-3.pdf (page 52) From Bob Hanson: THE SOUL FLIERS - A look at the motivation behind Ballet flying. http://www.kitelife.com/skq/issues-x/v3-4.pdf (page 44) Mike has one of the most unique and precise kites ever made (still) with the Mirage... I have two 3 packs which I enjoy a great deal, especially in higher wind. If you haven't checked out his site, do it... Hopefully he's got some video... If not, check out Chris Shultz here... Ironically, the same routine that won at the 1992 Outer Banks event mentioned earlier. Bob absolutely amazed (and inspired) me from day one with both dual and quad flying... Blue Danube and Soul Man are still two of my favorite routines ever done... Hopefully we'll dig up some footage of these as well... As I recall, Bob is one of only a dozen or so Outstanding Flyers acknowledged by American Kite Magazine during the late 80s and most of the 90s. Seriously, both these guys have done some awesome stuff in their time.
