  1. A new 1.5 mesh based on the Challenge PolyMax and a touch of Icarex Light Blue scrap. Hoping to make this a higher wind kite. Made my own 1" strips from the poly this time instead of using tails. I may open the mesh pattern a bit but you get the idea. Playing with some of all I've learned. You can see a touch of Mesh, A touch of Poly, and a hint of Perspective. Except for the snowflake entire sail will be the Midnight Challenge PolyMax. I'll also be edge binding in the same material. LE will be my normal White.

  2. I really like the white leading edge. After flying the Blue Diamond kite I realized that the white leading edge sort of disappears when the kite is in the sky. My eye seems to only see the main body of diamonds & darker blue stripes. The white is close to the brightness of the background sky. When the kite is inverted parked on the terrain the white then shows up very well. Your new Midnight Blowing Snow is another amazing product of your powerful kite fab mind. Wow, you're killin' me, SHBKF

  3. Trying to decide how tight I want the mesh. something really open like this would work but we are talking 15+ mph minimum to really enjoy it.. My wife has named this kite for my and I think she nailed it.. "Winter Jacket" 'cause the wind goes right through it.

  4. I will tell you when it comes to the Dyneema Cloth (aka Cuben fiber) be mindful of the tools you use to cut. it will actually dull metal scissors, shears and rotary cutters.. FWIW, Flymarket still has Challenge Polymax for $3 a yard.. great for experimenting with, without breaking the bank. Only one color but cheap enough to make mistakes. I used it for my first kite (indigo Sunrise) I didn't make out of tails. It's also the fabric I used in a few recent experiments (Diamonds Squared) that haven't gone well. When trying something new a cheaper fabric will let you know if it's work using the more expensive fabric on the next one. I also used it for one of the colors in my first Diamonds kite. 3/4 oz. Challenge Polymax navy blue ripstop polyester $3.00

  5. My wife and I decided to get dual line foils for some nieces and nephews this year. The store only had one Synapse in stock. Hearing that we wanted 4, they offered to order more. I asked if they could order HQ Symphony instead. We have 4 on order. Hooray for Kites and Fun Things. #SmallBusinessSaturday

  7. My Rev bag outer pocket gave up the ghost, so I ended up getting an ITW dig bag. Easily holds the 5 kites I use, lines, handles, fix-it kit. I carry a bunch of stuff in my hydration pack, it was built to be a small backpack as well. My concession to age was to get a Wheel-Eze beach cart. Went to Costco and got a folding milk crate. Make up the crate, attach to the cart, load my bag, pop up, hydration pack, ice chest, and any extra clothing - pull it like a golf cart to where we are on the beach. No more "schlepping" my stuff around!!!!

  9. First post as a newbie, both in forum and kiting. I apologize if this topic does not belong here. OK, here goes... Last weekend some RC racing cars were trying to jump newbies' quad lines at the beach. (We walked a great distance to be far away from people but still!) Dylan was able to relaunch his kite promptly to avoid them, but poor Cardin ended up in a tangle mess! It got worse when the guy frantically revving his engine to get away despite mom and kids' yelling "Stop...stop...! I was able to secure the kite while Cardin held onto his handles to prevent further damage. However, our 90# 120 ft quad line set got cut at 1/3 of its length. I already made a 40 ft quad set from that end. Can the kids use it to fly urban or it has to be 30 feet? Thanks.
