Here's a little intro I did to the various types of sport kiting... http://johnbarresi.com/what-kites-to-fly/ Truthfully, one is not really harder than another if you have good information sources like the users on this forum (who will seriously answer anything with a grin)... It's mainly what you like the look of, the energy, the movement, and how you see it used in any number of videos online.

For direct reference, we were at 342 subscribers December of last year... I think we dropped as low as 328 this past September, and now we're ahead of last year by a smidge. I contemplate the clear support shown by our subscribers on a semi-daily basis, really at least every 2-3 days I find myself very present of mind on this... More than once, just going through the names on both our past and present subscriber list has gotten me through a tough day - makes me almost perpetually inspired and grateful. Totally unrelated, I'm loving the @mention ability on this new forum software - now folks will get poked when their number is posted, woo hoo!

I've been looking for 2" wide tails to use with team flying (one per kite), but I've been having trouble finding anything with these specs... 1 - No raw edges if it's fabric (to avoid fraying), all hemmed. 2 - If not fabric, some sort of strong cellophane maybe. 3 - Light enough to flow out downwind from the kites. 4 - Color, either all black or all white preferably. 5 - Each 45' to 50' in length. Have you good KL folks come across anything that might do what I'm looking for? I have used the 48' transition tails from Gomberg, but they are just too darned heavy.

For what it's worth, the Sea Devil in that video had the bridle points dropped another 1/2" or so (had to retie a knot), I was running about 35 grams of weight on the tail, plus a yo yo line.

Re the license plate, I couldn't believe it when I asked the DMV clerk... "Really? K-I-T-E-S is available?" (insert stunned face and delayed response here) In Oregon of all places, lots of "founding kite fathers" live or have lived here. -

Try all lengths for your own taste, but I've found anything shorter than 30' doesn't give me enough window for the detailed flight that I favor (geometric lines, patterns, etc, what I call "running track") but is still short enough to run an orbit around the kite to generate wind or change flight direction. -
YouTube stripped the audio, so I did a track-swap from their music library: The only outdoor ACDC dual line video I can think of is this one, flying a Shiva...

Believe it or not, I don't actually fly locally very much... Sometimes though, I get the itch and wander out to one of my favorite Portland haunts. They all have one thing in common, pretty variable winds of anywhere from 0-8 mph with changing directions... Fact is, that stuff really gets me off and I'm very much at home with it. This time out I went to Eastbank Esplenade, on the east side of the Willamette River, immediately north of the Hawthorne Bridge - $1 per hour parking, all concrete or asphalt and mostly covered by two overpasses (I-5) so it works even when it's raining.
