  1. Woohoo! :ani_yahoo: :ani_yahoo:
  2. Eureka ! Hey John, you've finally hit on it. You mentioned the https: thing last week, but I did not understand all of that stuff, only knew it was different from http: That's what they (IPS) said changed, way back when we began this fiasco. Here, here! But whatever, nevermind, that did it. I am now posting with Windows XP & IE8 , you know, that archacic "operating system & browser", that IPS was referring to. But I just bet, that jynx and baloo can also post, NOW......cheers man...go have a bourbon on me......
  3. Been there done that, but I didn't escape the knife
  4. Hey John, I'm kinda warming up to FireFox now, so don't pull your hair out over this thing. I haven't quite made it my default browser yet, but I'm close. I'm sure there's some little petty glitch, that's causing the problems with IE, here, verses over on the test site, but again, don't miss any sleep over it. I'm certainly not . Oh, and I had that bourbon for you....last night so cheers mate. Take a load off ! ps.............Hope you got good news on the old shoulder...........
  5. Yeah Rob, I understand all of that, and I am using Firefox now, just for Kitelife. I suppose what I don't understand, is why things work over on the test forum (see post #23 above), which Kitelife is cloned from, yet when I come back here to Kitelife, I can't input anything, not even a reply to a PM. It just doesn't make sense, and that is now confirmed on 4 computers, using XP & IE8, as well as Vista & IE9. As you may have seen in an earlier post from yesterday, I can function on the iPad, and my initial assumption about that, may have been my fault (that's a whole nother story), but everything else, I have double and triple checked, and there is definitely a problem . There is something that has changed, or is different, somewhere between the test site, and the actual Kitelife site. It's just a matter of time before somebody runs across it. I don't think that I can be the only person having problems, as a couple of other people have come forward, but from John's stand point, it's probably not enough problems out there, to justify pulling the plug and starting over. I can't blame him for sure. He's been nothing short of great, in trying his best to help me. It's just that I know he doesn't have the time for this kind of thing now, and I surely understand that. As I told Wayne (SS), it's just more of an inconvenience, than it is a problem. I'm just accustomed to using one browser for everything, but as you have done, I too can adapt.............thanks for your input and support
  6. Yes Wayne, I know that I can use either Chrome or FireFox. I'm posting now using FireFox, but the real question is why did it all of a sudden quit working with Windows XP & IE8, as well as Windows Vista & IE 9. That's what we are trying to figure out. John put me on a test site, that has a "generic" forum, exactly like the Kitelife forum, and I suppose they are the ones that are actually handling this forum. Anyway, when I got there (to the test site), everything worked perfectly. I can post, I can quote, I can reply, I can do everything, that I once could do here. But when I come back here (to Kitelife), I still can't post, or reply, or anything. I can't even reply to a PM. I can send them, but I can't reply back. Anything that requires me to enter text, into a text box, I can't do. I don't even have a cursor........so obviously, something is messed up somewhere, especially if everything works over at the test site, with the other forum. Yes, I can use either of those other browsers, but I'm just used to Internet Explorer, and I don't particularly like having to switch back and forth, just for one website..........It's more of an inconvenience than anything else. I do appreciate your suggestion, though, but I'm already doing what you suggested, but not by choice !
  7. OK, Back to FireFox Ok, after the previous post (with the iPad), I went back and edited my original post, concerning that machine, since it seems to be working today? Just so you won't have to look back (not that anyone would care), but here is my edit, in it's entirety. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THIS POST WAS EDITED, VIA FIREFOX, TODAY, OCTOBER 18, 2012.............(SEE BELOW) :confused!: NOTE; FOR SOME REASON, THE iPad NOW WORKS (today, anyway), SO, IN ALL FAIRNESS, THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM THAT I REPORTED, COULD HAVE BEEN AN OPERATOR (me) PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW THAT FOR SURE, BUT I DO KNOW THAT I COULD NOT LOG-IN, BACK WHEN I ORIGINALLY REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO JOHN. TODAY, I WAS ABLE TO LOG IN, UNDER THE FORUM DROP DOWN BOX, ON THE KITELIFE MAIN PAGE, AND MADE A FEEBLE ATTEMPT TO POST SOMETHING? ONLY PROBLEM, THE iPad IS MY WIFE'S UNIT (thank goodness), SO I WON'T BE STRUGGLING WITH THAT ANY MORE............. All in all, I'm [sTILL] experiencing problems on the following: Lenovo laptop #1 - Windows XP Pro - IE8 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) Lenovo laptop #2 - Windows XP Pro - IE8 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) HP desktop - Windows XP Pro - IE8 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) Dell laptop #3- Windows Vista - IE9 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) Apple iPad (newest edition) - iOS - Safari (Website loads, but none of the links across the top of the page, such as Home, Magazine, Video, Forum, Info, & Login, work, or do anything. Drop boxes all drop down, but nothing in them works. I can't get to the forum to login, and the login link, in the forum drop down box, likewise doesn't work. Oh, the lower links on the page appear to work - the one's that show up under Editor Picks. I haven't gone any farther.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MARKED THE iPad OFF THE PROBLEM LIST ! NOW IF I COULD JUST GET MY WINDOWS UNITS TO WORK !
  8. POSTED WITH THE iPad ? Well, for some reason, I am now posting this with my wife's iPad, if you can call this posting. Can't believe that people like this. Call me old fashioned, but I'll take a regular old computer any day - what a painful experience - but it's working, so scratch the iPad off the list of problems........ It's got enough of it's own!!!!
  9. Back to FireFox John, sorry to say this, but no , the tweak didn't get it. Just to update, I checked back over on the web "testing site", and things there are still working just fine with Windows XP Pro. Something has got to be different, somewhere, between that site and Kitelife, but I guess that is obvious, sorry Also, just to make sure that I'm not passing on bad info, I have also gone back (2 minutes ago), and tried the Dell computer, which is running Windows VISTA and IE9. Still getting the same results.........it takes me to, "where the text box should be", my avatar is up in the top left corner, as it should be, but, there is no text box, cursor, or any kind of user control.......... It's just a big blank area ?
  10. Back to FireFox ! Yep, ain't it nice when they look out for you like that............I do automatic updates, well, automatically. Try to keep everything as up to date, as possible, but still, this is strange........ Oh, and yes, I did try the iPad, back 3-4 weeks ago, and logged on just fine. Problem there is that I can't even log in, so I don't know about the other issues, that I am confronted with, on the Windows systems...........
  11. Ok, ok, no kites Pete, and Rob, yes, I am posting now, using Firefox. As you mentioned, I too am reluctant to use multiple browsers, but looks like I'm being forced to do so, if I want to post. A little bothersome, but it works. As for your question, and Pete's, concerning my ISP, nothing has changed there in 10+ years. I've been with Time Warner Cable (road runner), as long as I can remember, so I suppose it's way more than 10 years. So far as other settings (router, WiFi, modem), nothing has changed there either. So, as it stands, John is working on the problem now, and hopefully he will be able to figure out what is going on. We are currently doing some trial runs with the forum service, and that seems to be working, so there appears to be a glitch, somewhere between that service, and the way it is coming out on Kitelife. I know that sounds stupid, but I'm not a computer geek, so I don't know the correct terminology, and I surely don't mean to put words in John's mouth, so I'll wait to hear the "real" verdict, from him. In the meantime, I suppose I'll use Firefox........... Thanks guys, for the suggestions and help...........(nice try on the kite deal, Pete) NOT
  12. THIS POST WAS EDITED, VIA FIREFOX, TODAY, OCTOBER 18, 2012.............(SEE BELOW) :confused!: NOTE; FOR SOME REASON, THE iPad NOW WORKS (today, anyway), SO, IN ALL FAIRNESS, THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM THAT I REPORTED, COULD HAVE BEEN AN OPERATOR (me) PROBLEM. Ok, just to help clear this thing up, it's not that I can't post or reply on Kitelife, at all. It's just that I can't do it, using my browser of choice, which at this moment, and for many years, has been Internet Explorer (I'm posting this now, using Firefox) But back to the problem at hand. Currently, I am using Windows XP Pro, with IE8 as my browser, and unfortunately, I can't upgrade to IE9, with Windows XP. The kicker, I've also got a Dell, that is running Windows Vista, and that computer is already using IE9 as a browser. Well, same results on both, I can not start a topic, or reply, or do anything that requires me to enter text. I don't get a text box, as I once did, only a blank white space, with no cursor, and no input capability, at all. I just thought this to be quite strange. And on top of that, about 3 - 4 weeks ago, my wife got a brand new Apple iPad (newest edition), and when she brought it home, I just had to play with it. One of the very first websites I went to, after I finally figured out how, was Kitelife.com. I pulled up the website, I signed in, and everything was fine. But now, that likewise is causing problems. At least I can sign on with my XP and IE8 & IE9, even though I can't do anything, but now, with the iPad, I can't even sign on. So this in getting very strange. All in all, I'm experiencing problems on the following: Lenovo laptop #1 - Windows XP Pro - IE8 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) Lenovo laptop #2 - Windows XP Pro - IE8 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) HP desktop - Windows XP Pro - IE8 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) Dell laptop #3- Windows Vista - IE9 (website looks ok and I can navigate, but no text box for any kind of input) Apple iPad (newest edition) - iOS - Safari (Website loads, but none of the links across the top of the page, such as Home, Magazine, Video, Forum, Info, & Login, work, or do anything. Oh, the lower links on the page appear to work - the one's that show up under Editor Picks. I haven't gone any farther.) So, needless to say, I am feeling like something very strange is going on, with the Kitelife website. I just want to be able to get back on, without having to switch browsers, just for one website. I have no problems and no issues with anything else, and John has pulled out a lot of hair, I'm sure, trying to help me, so if anyone else has any suggestions, please feel free to chime in. Thanks to all of you, who have already done so. All input helps us, as we try to erradicate this ghost, that has recently jumped on all of my computers........... thanks.........reef runner
  13. Man, is that an under statement.........
  14. I'm not so sure that this would suite my desired wind conditions (10-15mph)..........Oh, indoors, you say...hmmmmmmm.....how about the ceiling fan ? That could be a problem, but whatever..........it looks kinda like my old Rev I..........I'm in ! !.....5-9-0.....!

  20. Sounds a bit like begging to me................. Let's get on with it................ 5 - 9 - 0 !
  21. You are so right Rob......... I'm sure that this guy got a very bad impression, of what he originally thought was a Rev. I was really sorry, that there wasn't time to help him a bit more, and to allow this guy to fly the real thing, but circumstances just didn't allow. I was flying, a few hundred yards away, when he began to pack up, and I wasn't exactly in a location, where I could simply stake my kite, and leave it for a few minutes, with all the constant (oblivious) foot traffic, wandering back and forth. We were up on the top of a very large sand dune, which is an extremely popular tourist spot, plus it was very hot. By the time that I realized he was packing up, and was able to get back over to his location, his family had endured just about enough (no interest at all), and were "chomping at the bit", to leave. The "newbie", was obviously disappointed, in both the flight, as well as having to leave, which is a real shame, because, as badly as that knock-off kite flew, he did manage to do, somewhat, ok. He was definitely struggling, but still doing ok, especially for someone attempting their first, "quad-line" flight. What was missing, however, was that little gleam, that you see, when a new comer finally gets it, and you know , he's "hooked". I would have really liked to have been able to spend a little more time with him, and allow him try the real deal, but it just wasn't going to happen that day. So yes, that was indeed, a double whammy - "the legitimate kite industry is really getting screwed twice... once when the design is ripped off, and twice because the crappy flying knock-offs are knocking perspective fliers out before they get hooked."
  22. I was at the NC coast last week, went up on the dunes (Jockey's Ridge) to fly my Rev, and came up behind a guy that was having all kinds of problems with his Rev (?). The kite was on the ground, and out some 100 feet of so, so I wasn't exactly sure what his problem was, other than he was really struggling with his handles, pigtails, lines, etc. What a mess! They looked a bit strange (no knots in the pigtails) but always being willing to help a "newbie", I went on and helped him get that straighted out, and then told him to run out to the kite and set it up, against the wind. When he did, I saw IT. "No Rev logo in the center - strange shaped panels & vents - this was an obvious KNOCK-OFF !" So, at his request, I launched the kite (which incidentally flew like a tank hauling a load of lead) and after a very short flight, I set it back down on the sand, and handed him the handles. As I turned to give him the handles, I just had to ask.........."What kind of kite is that?". Answer....."that's a REVOLUTION kite, that I found on eBay - great price too". My Reply......."I don't think so, because THAT'S a REV right there", as I turned around and pointed to my own kite (a 1.5 B-series mid-vent), which was fully assembled and laying right there on the sand, just a few from where we stood. So, once he managed to get the kite off the ground, and begin to fly a bit, I wished him well, and moved on, where I went about setting out my own lines to fly. From my flight area, I watched him for about an hour or so, as this guy really struggled with the kite, but I had several groups of fliers between us, so watch from a distance, was all I could do. When he began to take the kite down to leave, I observed a horrific line wind-up procedure, as well as a terrible kite roll up. But, by the time I was able to get back over his way, he was pretty much done with his take down, and ready to go. I couldn't help but make just one more suggestion. I told him very nicely, that unfortunately, he had been duped on that kite, and if had been led to believe, that he was purchasing a Rev, that he was indeed mistaken. I also suggested, that if he could possibly see his way clear, to save up a little extra cash, and get himself a real "Revolution" kite, that he would see an world of difference. I was actually going to allow him to fly mine, but by that time, he was then in a hurry to leave, as Mom & kids were getting very restless & hot, up on the dunes. I suppose I still can't believe, that he actually thought that he had a Revolution kite. It didn't look anything at all like a Rev, other than the general shape.... What a shame !
  23. Aren't you the one that would do that....I suppose that turn-a-bout is fair play....Thanks
  24. Go go go ..........
