Congrats Morgan!
-
Well, you can continue with the friendly banter and stop worrying about the mid vent. I had a dream that the RNG was going to pick my number, so it's as good as over. Now this Karma giveaway...that is one cool looking kite!
-
You guys can hang around and wait if you want, but I know when John gets back and the RNG picks my number he'll PM me and let me know. Take your time, John. The RNG knows no pressure, and I'm trying.
-
It's usually windy until I go to set up a kite, then nothing. Sometimes the wind picks up again if I leave.
-
Yeah, I'll get in this line, too. With the wind conditions here, it would most likely be my go-to kite most days. Wish you luck with the search!
-
Sounds like a good guess to me. Talk about the KiteLife! I guess this makes you #1!!
-
It's good to see someone who has given so much get back a little. Talk about Karma! I guess it's time to move it over to the new drawing.
-
I just talked to Theresa to let her know who won. Looks like she'll probably hand it over in person at the big Rev mega-fly. Wish I could be there.
-
So, John... You can call up Theresa and let her know what color you want, and she'll ship it out to you. I kinda like this not having to box it up thing.
-
Sorry, I didn't realize the screen shot clipped the bottom of the list. Here's the rest. rng2.pdf

Here it is: rng kite.pdf

HaHa! And the winner is...JB!!! I'll post the list as soon as I can get it scanned. Number was only third on the list. Congrats, John!
-
OK 3-34 it is. Generating list...
-
OK. 5 minutes left for any last minute entries... Right now it looks like I'll be running #s 3 - 34, but only 7 of them count...

I'm sure if you win, you'll put up something great! Now, I'm relatively new to kiting in a lot of ways, being solo and in a kiting desert, so what is a Benson Gemini and why does it sound special? Pretty excited about the Nexus, my son will love it ! He needs to fly smaller kites because he doesn't weigh much, yet. When you're only 55 pounds, a full sized kite can be kinda dangerous...Benson Gemini... one of my favorite kites. It's a great kite, but really hard to fly... or should I say, really hard to trick. These videos are what made me want to learn how to learn how to fly dual line tricks. I'm still working on it, I didn't realize that it would take this long to even come close to this guy's level of skill. http://wardley.org/kites/movies/stoked.html I have two Geminis, and have been looking for an UL for some time. I should just order one, but my skills don't quite match what this kite demands, yet. . Rob your videos are what I am striving for, Thank you for saying so, but after we spend an afternoon on the beach, I think you'll go home with all I know ! Coney Island, second weekend in September ? Should be an easy ride for you... Hmm. I may be able to make it that weekend. Want some company?

Ooohh, Kevin's number once again! Can lightning strike twice? Can the RNG pick the same winning number twice in a row? Stay tuned!
-
Quick update. I'm having lots of computer problems at home so access is sporadic. I'll be hitting up the RNG from work at 12:00 eastern time. Good luck to all!
-
Yeah! This isn't national politics, where you can just buy your way into winning!
-
I'm sure if somebody really wanted to get 100 subscriptions, John could come up with something.
-
Never tried flying with a scope, I'm pretty much never away from home without a kite and some kind of optic. Usually Bino's.

Karma 8/1/13 (Kite Currency and a possible bonus)
rexracer replied to bbailey49's topic in Karma Drawings
Well, I got my new handles! They're different than the others in that they have a machined groove to keep the pigtails in place. Great idea, but I think the grooves should be up closer to (bisecting the bottom) of the holes. Hey, I'm always looking for ways to improve things. First thing I did was untie all but the last 2 of the knots in the pigtails, which puts the last knot where I usually fly on my other handles. I'll need to lengthen them for more wind, but they worked for me today. Here's their first day with 80' lines. -
The magic of Karma is it can't be fooled or bargained with!
-
I only flew with a kite once since I don't fly much. I brought my Rev travel frame and a full and vented sail in my carry on. No problem with the kite, but I almost got arrested for the Questar 3.5 inch telescope. Got yanked out of line and was told "it didn't look like a telescope". I left my stake at home and bought the biggest phillips screwdriver I could find for a stake. I gave it to the girl at the car rental place on the way home and told her to give it to one of the service guys since I couldn't take it back on the plane.

I'm in the same boat. If you asked this 15 years ago I might be able to help, but the last time I worked on a website I worked in notepad and a 28.8 modem was fast. I hope someone steps up, purely for selfish reasons. If we free up some time for John, maybe he can find some time for some more video tutorials, like some dual line stuff! (hint, hint)

Glad to help! A banner for the raffle might not be a bad idea, either.
