Ooohhh, I like that red and purple, just like in the big pic! #9 #9 #9 #9

Like John said, we have discussed this a bit. We've changed the time to 1-2 weeks, and we'll keep it one thread at a time so we have a continuous line of "paying it forward" from start to finish. Just think, if this is still going two years from now and you win something, you'l be able to look back and know that every previous winner was partly responsible for you ending up with that prize!

Had a bit of wind on the morning of the fourth, so I decided to put my Hypnotist up for the first time. In the spirit of the day, I went to the dollar store and got rolls of red, white and blue crepe streamers, and a couple of flags. Put the flags at the top of the lines, and 100' of streamers off of each wing tip. She was a bit heavy, but I had some fun. Lost some of the streamers, so I had to chop 'em to about 30'. Flew better then. I also got to try something new to me. Couldn't fly well and take a picture, so I tied one strap to my waist and flew with my left hand and right hip, and used my right hand to work the camera. Caught the ground twice, more due to trying to see through the camera than trouble with control when I was paying attention to tthe kite. Fun morning, even if I did catch a bit of a burn. Some pictures;

I'm in! Nine is my number, ya know! Hmmm, now I gotta think about more Karma...

Pictures of Your NPW would be awesome Dude! I flew my 2.5m NPW recently. The wind was lower than the suggested wind speed most of the time. And did not get to half the Max wind. I was very happy with how it flew reasonably well in the low wind. The sail was not full constantly and did require a little bit of back stepping and Arm movement. (Skills straight from Rev Sail Loading - Thanks JB) But it did fly When the wind did pick up a little here and there, The Power was starting to come through. It was very easy to see how strong this NPW is going to be when I get a decent wind. Control wise, it is nothing like a Rev. The NPW was very easy to over command and disrupt sail pressure. Taking it slowly was best. I am really looking forward to flying in a stronger wind. I will try to post some video of it later. Does this kite generate lift with speed? I have a Flexifoil Bullet 2.5 (designed for buggys) and I fly it in sideways figure eights to generate speed, and pull. I can pump the bar to fly figure eights and get close to twice the pull as I would just letting it sit stationary. Quite the workout!

That's what I mean. If I have a pair of 90# lines then they should (theoretically) be able to lift me off of the ground. A 90# line should be able to pull my arm straight before it breaks. I think I may have to rig up my digital fish scale to see what kind of pull I'm getting on the lines. I should be able to fly a kite with 1 strap and a fish scale!

**KARMA 7/3/13** (30'x50# quad lines, equalizer winder)
rexracer replied to rexracer's topic in Karma Drawings
I'm sending the lines to Gavin on Friday. Thanks for playing everyone. For future reference, I think using the post number in the upper right corner in every post, and the Random Number Generator to generate a list is the way to go for picking the winner. All you have to do is make sure the first number on the list is actually someones first (I'm in!) post, and not a follow up post. Only the first one counts for the drawing. If the first number is a repost, or one of your own, just move down the list until you get a hit. Here is a link for the RNG http://www.random.org/sequences/ It works well. Thanks to JB for the link! I can't wait to see what Joespickles gives away in his thread! See you all in his **KARMA** thread next week -

OK. It's official. Congrats Joespickles! PM me your shipping address and I'll get this out. Sorry if anyone saw the premature announcement. I'm at work and posted before I realized it wasn't the "entry" post. Here's the RNG list. Sorry to delete your post, Reef. Didn't want to get anyones hopes up. rng.pdf -

5 minutes left! RNG is up and waiting on another tab! -
I just got a Prism Hypnotist that I'm going to be towing a 100' tube tail with. It came with 85' of 150# Spectra line, and I bought a LPG 150# x 150' lineset so I can show off that tail. I'm looking at the kite, and I'm thinking that it's no bigger, and maybe smaller, sail area wise, than my Rev, which I fly on 90# most of the time. I had my Vented Rev in30+ mph gusts and it was pulling hard. Hard enough where I was worried about breaking the 3 wrap frame. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is why the Hypnotist needs 150# and the Rev only 90#. At a guess, the inputs don't put as much peak stress with a 4 line, while snap turns on a 2 line put more peak stress. I would love to hear from anyone who ever broke a line that wasn't damaged, and what it took. Could I fly the Hypnotist on 50#? Would I go to snap a square corner and snap a line instead? How about 90#? Just so everyone understands, I'm just trying to get a feel for the limits, I'm not planning on flying my new kite on 50# line any time soon, but maybe a 120' set of 90# for flying in light winds would work if I modified my flying a bit to keep peak stresses down. Maybe stick to push turns. How about line weight for slack line tricks? is heavier line better or lighter? Has anyone here experimented with line weights or stressed them to failure? I realize that line failure can be dangerous not only for the kite, but for anyone nearby also. I'm curious by nature and am always looking for the "why" of things. Some things never change.

vented kites are supposed to have holes ! You know, I was going to say that earlier today, but since Rex is running tomorrow's drawing, I didn't want to upset him ! But I bought a vented B, if I want an extra vent, I'll buy (or win??) one. As to upseting me, no worries...I already boxed up the lines, so you don't have to worry about sabbotage if you win.

Woo Hoo!!!! I Just checked my e-mail and Gomberg just shipped my 100' tube tail Priority Mail!!!

That's why I fly. It's relaxing and a great way to get out and enjoy nature. If I do need to make that walk, it's usually because I'm trying to do something I've never done. It also gives me a chance to look at the kite and make sure everything is good. I hope for some good wind tomorrow. My ex has my daughter (who I haven't gotten hooked,,,yet), and my new hypnotist is eyeballing me from across the room! If the wind is up, I plan on flying it after work right after I make a drop at UPS.
-
And I have a lot to learn about avoiding that with a stunt kite... I may end up getting as much exercise as I do with my Flexi Bullet!
-
Imagine if it had been a quad set ! I'd need a bigger winder!! As it is, I may make a longer winder just so it won't take me as long to wind up those lines. Maybe a nice 16" job out of Cherry with a tongue oil finish.

I got these to fly a 100' tube tail on a Hypnotist, so I went with 150' of 150#. Should make for a good show at the beach!
-
Got my Tedlar tape, and the new lines for flying my tube tail when it comes. This is one big wad of kite lines. Thanks Theresa!

I was born in California, and spent some of my childhood in Idaho. When my family moved out here to the east coast imagine my suprise when I went to the "ocean" and saw that for sand, and no waves. I was used to Half Moon Bay for beach days. Don't even get me started on what passes for a mountain out here.

I have a hole in my Vented B, so I think this one needs to come my way. C'mon RNG, pick me!

That's it! I can't wait to see what goes up next. -
That's what passes for sand here in New England!

Wow, Album art! That was an interesting cover. That was also the main reason I bought Queen-News of the World. Now with CD's and streaming music, I think the days of really artistic covers may be gone.

Quote (at half speed) - "That was pretty avant-garde, wasn't it?".............R. Waters ps............Ok, not exactly flying music, nor my style ! I'll have to admit, I'm "Dark Side of the Moon", forward. And yes, that would be a pretty tough one, to fly to. I agree on all counts, but I bet JB could come up with an awsome routine to it if he had a notion.
