I would get a Sul and vtd in a heart beat but I think I would use a Sul or ur more as that's my usual reason I don't fly. To high a wind I start playing with foils. I may get a new Kymera restick it with some fancy sticks and make (I mean ask) JB to play with the bridle to make it as close to his like and feel as possible. Then ill let you all know what I did. Then ill have replacement spars for my std Kymera and a UL Kymera out of the deal. Or a very expensive pile of kite parts.

As I am not a smoker of Tobacco but as I live in Washington and fly kites I obviously smoke weed. But on the kite field I can't whip out a pipe and I don't always have a joint. So I use the eCigs that are made to use hash oil. No lighter no smoker cough easy as pie on the kite field. Saved my lungs for sure and saved my mind as well.

I don't know. I would buy another and try that if I had an idea if it would work or not.

this weekend John and i had a huge mess of kites on the beach. it was nice playing with all the different kites and lines even different handles. but if i had to take just one kite and line set with me i would know just what i would take. not that i would ever want just one kite but if i did the kymera is my new best friend.

Yup John you are gifted at finding the center of mass in kites then making it work for you and adjusting to make work just the way you want it. After flying with John and his weights for the weekend and playing with the Ocius with and without weight ill be permanently adding weight in the tail. had a great lesson with what weights can do for a kites and my flying. Maybe even a little in the middle of the center spar to center the balance of the kite....?

aww the elusive 2 point landing. i had some good time this weekend. i had a stupid smile on my face every single time i hit it. i just head straight down hit a stall at the last minute and walk into it. if you do it to early your kite just hovers and then you pretend you meant to do that and try again. are run at it to get it to fall down to a 2 point landing.

So i have been searching and searching for the right kite. a few months now. no rush as i have a few that i am very happy with! i have been flying a UL and standard Ocius all summer. but its to fast for me. its a great trick kite but to fast and squirely for me i didnt have time to fix over steer and under steer. so i needed a slower kite. and i needed a kite that only did what i told it to do. I finally found it this weekend. A Kymera! wasnt first on my list. i was looking at lots of kites much higher in price but i never even tried one. until this week. i flew Johns for a while and it was great!! he had other kites that i tried as well they were all great. but i needed one that fit me. Its loud and fast when you tell it to be and not when you dont. turns great, goes straight no over or under steer just does what you want and nothing you dont. thats really what i needed something that would just do what i want. Did i find the perfect kite? i dont think that exist but i did find the perfect kite for me so im happy now. i havent felt this feeling since my first flexi foil. so my question for you is: what kite do you love? i want all the juicy details.

How big is your tail? Mine is the 8 in tube. It's a beast I love it but I think a smaller tube for lower wind would be good. -

Ten mph is frustrating for sure. It sure draws a crowd though. Kids love playing jump rope with it. So does Paul De Bakker. Is was fun at Lincoln city late in the evening. But it was a constant rowing to keep it in the air. Needs probably 15 to be happy. There are no upper wind limits in my world. -
Well might as well give it a shot as well. See what happens. My ocius loves to go on its back as it sits now.

Huh I haven't seen any tail weight in mine... I have a standard and Ul neither came with weight. Do I need weight in mine?

Dual Line Diamond - a pleasant surprise !
Cyphert replied to Reef Runner's topic in General Sport Kite
yup you need to leave it nose down and with the nose into the wind you can launch it. takes some practice. delta duals nose up and diamond kites nose down. i had a self launch one time (well one rastic time) i guess the lines were not equal because it didnt go straight up it made like a rainbow and arced across the sky and smacked nose down with great enthusiasm breaking both leading edges. kind of awesome though trying to run back to the handles and getting close when i see that im not going to make it. kinda awesome to watch. i actually had it happen yesterday but i was flying a foil in grass solo. havent figured out the right way to self launch on grass. i now know a few ways to not do it. -

my kite can handle the wind no problem. itll be going so slow with the tail it shouldn't be a problem. i fly it 20 plus all the time. thats when i think the tail will look its best. now im not sure but im assuming it will want to turn a lot with the high wind and slow to move forward. all the videos i have seen they look fun. im thinking ill fly the 50 stack when the wind is below 15 and the long tail when its over 15. im not a huge fan of tricks any ways i like the big shiny fancy loud things. ill give it a shot this weekend at Lincoln city if the wind is right. itll be a learning experience. now will the drag from the tail require heavier lines? i have the regular 150# i fly now in higher winds and im wondering if i should use my 300# lpg line. any thoughts. i hate trying new stuff out at festivals when everyone is watching but ill hide on the side and play with the new toy. -
i decided that i need a 100 foot rainbow tube tail to fly behind my rainbow jam session. i know itll need a bit of wind anyone have any idea how much wind it'll want?
