  1. I seem to recall, Mr. Barresi, that you and a Rev had a very similar experience when you first started. Did someone point out to you that you had the verticals on the wrong side or did you figure it out yourself?
  2. I'm being dead serious. All anyone has to do is give the handles to someone who is interested and help them long enough to be able to take off and land. Then just go to the kite and flip back on its feet after they crash for a while. The addiction then just takes care of itself. P.S. - The guys practicing with their power foils are easy game. I didn't think you were being flippant, nor was my comment. It is precisely folks like you (and your optimism) that we should all look to as an example of what's needed to grow kiting. You saw getting 1 or 2 out of 300 as 1 or 2 successes, not a whole lot of failures. 500 more fliers would truly kick ass. I'm going to make it a personal challenge to get 2 new fliers bitten by the bug before the end of the year.
  3. I love your optimism, Mark!
  4. Hello, Karma warriors. Apologies for the delay in getting the new drawing posted, but this one should be worth the wait. mtgrizzly52 is offering a Flexifoil Stranger Level 7 Dual Line Kite designed by Andy Preston. It is light purple, dark purple, and white in color. mtgrizzly says it is unlike any duallie he has ever flown and a bit beyond his current abilities, so he wants to give this kite a chance to go to someone who can put it through its paces. Here is a link to a video of this kite in action. It looks like a capable stunter to me, but what do I know, I'm a quadhead. Good luck to all! The drawing will be done on the last day of February. The RNG will decide the winner. Enter by starting a post in this thread with "I'm in". Entry number will be by order of entry. Standard Karma Note from the Moderators This is a Karma Drawing. The winner of the drawing is expected to pay it forward by offering their own prize for the next drawing. Please do not enter unless you are willing to offer your own prize, preferably not the prize you just won. Drawings should be open for entry approximately 2 weeks, and the next drawing should be posted as soon as possible to keep the Karma rolling. These drawings are run by and for KiteLife members. The moderating team only ensures that your drawing post contains all of the pertinent information (drawing date/time, adequate prize description, drawing rules) before approval. If you are a KiteLife member from the US or Canada, you are eligible to enter. You do not have to be a paid subscriber. Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. Here is the link to the original Rules and Guidelines thread: http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5426-rules-and-guidelines-please-read/ The mechanism for the drawing itself is entirely at the discretion of the person offering the prize. In the past, entry number has been determined either by order of entry or by the post number in which the member declares entry into the drawing. The drawings have been performed using the RNG method (http://www.random.org/sequences/) or by choosing the numbers out of a hat (I believe an adorable daughter did the picking in that scenario). The only requirement is that the method of selection is clearly spelled out in the drawing post. Entry into the drawings is done by STARTING a post in the drawing thread with the entry phrase chosen by the drawing host (Traditionally "I'm in", but "I LIKE" has been used as well). In order to remove any confusion or misinterpretation, only entries with posts that START with the phrase will be considered. As with all other KiteLife drawings, bantering is encouraged. This is for fun after all.
  5. It's all good, Rick. I got your email and will get that drawing set up. I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread down. Thank you Rob for an awesome prize. Duallie nuts, keep your eyes open for the next drawing
  6. I have inquired with a PM if help was needed getting the drawing set up and have had no reply. How about it, mtgrizzly52?

    Kite Bags

I have 3 ITW bags. 2 of the 48" length for my stunt kites (one for duallies, one for Rev's) and 1 of the 62" for my SLK's and any stunters that don't break down small enough for the 48". I've never had a problem with any of them (other than filling them up with too many kites). To give you an idea of size, I think I can fit 10 or 12 revs in a 48". However, I carry my lines and handles in a separate bag.
  8. Well, everyone else should just give up. Nick Russell is in. No one else has a chance now.
  9. I've never flown in Illinois, Todd. Perhaps one day we can share a field up there. It's all about ripstop in the sky and spreading the love of this awesome sport.
  10. I will cover shipping to anywhere in the world. Come one, come all, spread the love of this great sport.
  11. The new drawing is posted. It's pretty amazing. Locking this thread down now. Thank you everyone
  12. sweet! never had a chance to get line time on one of dodd's kites. now i'm going to win one. woohoo!
  13. Rob and I are working on the next drawing. Thanks, Scott. Great prize idea. Congratulations, Rob!
  14. Kite fliers are my favorite demographic, by far.
  15. Any wear from using a mix of rods on the leading edge is so minuscule that the sail will be worn out long before you see anything due to the slight variation in leading edge spar thickness
  16. Congratulations, Rob! Can I come up when you win the weekend?
  17. This is the karma drawing. If you want to be entered you need to post "I'm in". Entry isn't automatic like jb's member drawings.
