Nick Russell replied to Nick Russell's topic in Karma Drawings
Congratulations Josh! You're the winner. I'll PM you for delivery information. I'm sorry we didn't have more entries, I hoped it would be a useful gift. I'll try to pick a better prize next time around. -

Power Foil 2.6 by Skydog Kites (9/25/15)
Nick Russell replied to John Barresi's topic in Current Drawings
Oh yes, I must have this! -
Congratulations Marcus!

You can drive on the beach here at Long Beach other times, but not during the kite festival. There are too many people out there having fun.
-
Several RVing Revolution flyers are already here in Long Beach and this evening we went down to the beach to watch them fly and get acquainted. This was the first time we've been up close and personal when folks were formation flying and we picked up some nice tips and pointers. Rev flyers are the best!
-
Northwavesailor is right, we don't drive the RV to the beach, it stays at the RV park and we drive our SUV when we get to an area where we'll be staying.

It's coming, Nancy, no question about it.

Monday we bought a pair of full sail New York Minutes and we took them for their first flights on the beach at Long Beach, WA today. The wind was in the 7-12 MPH range and I was very pleased with my NYM. It handled very well, though I think I need a l lesson on where to adjust my lines on the knots on the leaders on the handles. I had the top ones on the third from the outside on top and on the outermost knot of two on the bottom. I can't say at this point that I liked flying it as much as the full vent B series I recently acquired. My wife has been flying the EXP I won last year on a Karma raffle here. She said her NYM was so much smoother and more responsive that it was like night and day. After a couple of hours the wind slacked off, but the kites still flew well for another 30 minutes or so. Overall, the NYMs seem to have been a good investment.

Real dark, Terry. Real, real dark!
-
How many Revs will fit in my kite bag? Well, I know it's two more than what fit in it yesterday. Miss Terry and I both got full sail NYMs today. So that makes four Revs for me and three for her.

Welcome to the forum. I started with a Prism Snapshot 1.9 foil and still love it. In a 15 mph wind and up it really gives me a workout. Prism says it's good in 4-24 mph winds, but I've found that for it, anything less than 10 mph it's really not worth the effort. But beware, this is only the beginning! I bough tmy first kite two years ago and at last count have 7 or 8! Where are you in Indiana? We travel fulltime in our RV and usually spend some time in Elkhart every year. -
Karma - Weather Flow Wind Meter (8/14/2015)
Nick Russell replied to Nick Russell's topic in Karma Drawings
Wow, only one entry so far? I guess I'll have to choose a better prize next time around. -
I got mine at Northwest Winds in Seaside. It was about $40 and holds 5 Revs, a Prism Micron, Prism Quantum, line and handles, and still has lots of room left.

This drawing is for a handy little gadget, a Weather Flow Wind Meter. Works with iPhones and most android devices with a free app you download. No batteries required. Entry is via the standard "I'm in" phrase. Winner will be determined by RNG on 8/14/15. entry number determined by order of entry. Good luck! Standard Karma Note from the Moderators This is a Karma Drawing. The winner of the drawing is expected to pay it forward by offering their own prize for the next drawing. Please do not enter unless you are willing to offer your own prize, preferably not the prize you just won. Drawings should be open for entry approximately 2 weeks, and the next drawing should be posted as soon as possible to keep the Karma rolling. These drawings are run by and for KiteLife members. The moderating team only ensures that your drawing post contains all of the pertinent information (drawing date/time, adequate prize description, drawing rules) before approval. If you are a KiteLife forum member from the US or Canada, you are eligible to enter. You do not have to be a paid subscriber. Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. Here is the link to the original Rules and Guidelines thread: http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5426-rules-and-guidelines-please-read/ The mechanism for the drawing itself is entirely at the discretion of the person offering the prize. In the past, entry number has been determined either by order of entry or by the post number in which the member declares entry into the drawing. The drawings have been performed using the RNG method (http://www.random.org/sequences/) or by choosing the numbers out of a hat (I believe an adorable daughter did the picking in that scenario). The only requirement is that the method of selection is clearly spelled out in the drawing post. Entry into the drawings is done by STARTING a post in the drawing thread with the entry phrase chosen by the drawing host (Traditionally "I'm in", but "I LIKE" has been used as well). In order to remove any confusion or misinterpretation, only entries with posts that START with the phrase will be considered. As with all other KiteLife drawings, bantering is encouraged. This is for fun after all.

That would be great!

We'll be there John. We'll actually be in Long Beach August 4 - 25. Looking forward to seeing you TK again.

We had winds of 17- 20 mph today here in Seaside so I got to fly both of my new kites. The Prism Micron I just won in a karma drawing is definitely a challenge. Fast does not even begin to describe it, and that long tail turning circles in the air looks really cool. Was it fun? Yes. But it will take some getting used to. Then I broke out my new B Series full vent and I have to tell you, I love my wife, I love my kids, but I LOVE this kite! Love, love, love it! My full sail 1.5 SLE is a great kite but it pales in comparison in my opinion. I flew it for over three hours and only stopped when the wind started to die off and my arms felt like there were going to fall off. I'm still a newbie, but several people walking by gave me a thumbs up as I practiced hovers and spins. Hoping we have good wind again tomorrow.

Who is your favorite kite shop at the moment?
Nick Russell replied to John Barresi's topic in Open Topic
I'd be hard pressed to choose between either of the Northwest Winds shops (Seaside and Lincoln City, Oregon) and The Kite Company in Newport. All three have given us great service and advice. Ted at the Seaside store has been great to work with. -
The newest addition to the kite bag arrived today. Thanks again, Josh. We're supposed to have some good wind tomorrow so I'm looking forward to trying It out. I'll be posting a new drawing in the next couple of days.
-
Thanks Mark. I went with the Micron. I'm looking forward to flying it.
-
I look forward to it, my friend.

Agreed. And we have been able to introduce a lot of other RVers to the it. I publish an RV newspaper called the Gypsy Journal and present seminars at RV rallies and one of them is on hobbies for RVers. I always bring a couple of Revs, my Prism Snapshot and whatever else I have and it draws good crowds. Several who have attended now have kites and there is an informal competition among them to see who can fly a kite in the most states as they travel.
-
That explains the discomfort....
-
Thank you. I think that Micron will be a lot of fun. I'll put together a new drawing and post it in the next couple of days.
