  1. Terry, we stopped at the Seaside store today to meet Ted, he's a really nice guy. Our friend Nancy was with us and she bought an ultralight Rev, and I fell in love with a red and black full vent B Series and my wife insisted I take it home. No really, she did!
  2. We were back on the beach for about 3 hours today. The wind was light so we did not break out the new vented 1.5s, but stuck to using my SLE and Miss Terry's EXP. Using the tips we got from tkrinor the other day we had a great time and feel like we have come so far. We leave Newport in the morning for two weeks in Seaside and then we'll be in Long Beach for 3 weeks. Looking forward to more times on the lines.
  3. I did that today. Damn, 5 Revs! And I fear it's only the beginning.
  4. How do I find the album?
  5. Today we added two new 1.5 vented Revs to the family, one for my wife and one for me
  6. Thank YOU Terry! We learned more in the first few minutes with you than we did in the past two years. To be honest, I was about to give up on Revs and stick to my 2 line speed foil because all I could do was crash the Rev on launching. Now we are both totally enthused again! Walking back to the car, my wife said that as soon as we get to Seaside on Tuesday we're going to the kite shop to buy a pair of vented 1.5s!
  7. Neither. I have a standard SLE and a SuperSonic I won here and have never had in the air, and my wife has an EXP. We're newbies and very inexperienced.
  8. Sounds good, Terry. We'll try to make it.
  9. We are new to this area and don't know our way around all that well. Is that near the south end of the bridge near jetty, or is it a bit further south on 101?
  10. Where on South Beach and what time, Terry? I have a telephone interview in the morning but might be able to in the afternoon.
  11. It's been a while, what the heck, I'm in
  12. Neither one of us is good enough to fly with the big kids yet, but we'll definitely be there!
  13. Oh, I plan to!
  14. I got a reply from Prism yesterday saying they would send out a replacement spine. In the meantime, we are in Newport, Oregon so I went to the local kite shop and bought one. So I'll have a replacement when the other one arrives.
  15. I may have created a monster. Here is my wife flying the Rev EXP I won in a karma drawing for the first time. She's definitely hooked!
  16. Thanks John
  17. It was pretty high wind and came straight down on the nose. I'm in Florence, OR now and will be on the coast all summer working our way north, starting with two weeks in Newport this coming week, then to Seaside for two weeks, then three weeks in Long Beach for the kite festival, and then reversing the route south. I'm hoping one of the shops along the way will have a replacement rod if Prism can't get one to me.
  18. I'm disappointed. I bought a new Prism Quantum and took it out to the beach for the first time yesterday. I've flown my Snapshot 1.9 for two years now and love it, but the Quantum is going to take some getting used to. I crashed it on the sand twice and the long center graphite rod that runs down the spine started coming apart in slivers about 6-8 inches long. I chose this model because it is supposed to take the abuse of a new flier, which I assume also means occasional crashes. Now I'm not sure if I should try to fly it again as is or wait to get a replacement rod.
  19. Thanks everybody, I have already gifted the 1.8 unseen to a new flier who tried my Prisim Snapshot 1.9 and loved it. I'll put the others to good use introducing newbies to the sport.
  20. I'm amazed! Thanks John and everybody!
  21. I've got 2 Revs, wife has a Rev, and I've got a Prisim Snapshot 1.9 speed foil. So the only thing missing was a dual line stunt kite. I solved that problem when FedEx delivered a Prisim Quantum today! Now to get it out and into the wind.
  22. We were visiting my son and his wife in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the last week, and I had the opportunity to introduce him to the sport of kite flying with my Prism Snapshot 1.9 speed foil. Saturday we had winds of about 8-10 mph, enough to get it up in the air and give him a feel for it. But Sunday winds were 12-14 with gusts to 20, perfect to give him a real workout. It didn't take very long for him to get the hang of it and begin doing some basic maneuvers. Not much longer and he had an ear to ear grin and was telling his wife he needed one of those!
