riffclown Posted October 25, 2020 Report Posted October 25, 2020 I need to have a 72" Perspective Mesh in my bag as a reference kite (the original one moved on before I had time to write everything down.) Silver, Royal Blue,Lt Blue, Dark Blue, Teal, Caribbean Blue, Cedar, Forest, Flo Green Flo Yellow. Will weave it all in of course but wanted to lay out the basic thoughts.. 1 Quote
riffclown Posted October 26, 2020 Author Report Posted October 26, 2020 The other option would be a color fade.. Thoughts?? Quote
riffclown Posted October 29, 2020 Author Report Posted October 29, 2020 Decision is this will be a yellow to blue spectrum fade.. Quote
riffclown Posted October 31, 2020 Author Report Posted October 31, 2020 OK the meshing is sewn and I think the angles are close enough. The Bottom corners are not attached to each other, So I'll have the ability to get everything perfectly flat before solidifying that point.. LE will be Royal Blue. Still deciding on Edge Binding. thinking blue though. I may add another strip to each side to support the outer edge. Silver the most likely candidate in that case. Quote
riffclown Posted November 8, 2020 Author Report Posted November 8, 2020 After a ton of chasing the shape, this kite will be a flag. I missed an angle early on and did not check symmetry before sewing.. That one angle throws off the shape of the sail by over an inch.. Yes I could finish it and yes I could make it fly. Bottom line, it's not a kite that I would buy so it's not a kite I would sell. This one will be a flag.. Quote
riffclown Posted November 11, 2020 Author Report Posted November 11, 2020 So I've started completely over with new material.. If this build goes south I may not try this deign again.. The angles are a bear to get right and symmetrical.. 2 Quote
riffclown Posted November 21, 2020 Author Report Posted November 21, 2020 Progress so far this morning.. Quote
riffclown Posted December 6, 2020 Author Report Posted December 6, 2020 So this was one of my longest and most frustrating builds.. But finally success!! I figured out how to make his work.. 1 Quote
khsidekick Posted December 9, 2020 Report Posted December 9, 2020 Dang this one has a lot of air going thru it. What is the lower wind range for this one? Quote
riffclown Posted December 9, 2020 Author Report Posted December 9, 2020 Given that I have alternatives, I don't think it'll come out of the bag sub 15mph. You can probably fly it in 10-ish 1 Quote
riffclown Posted December 9, 2020 Author Report Posted December 9, 2020 It's going to be a lot of fun 20+ 1 Quote
riffclown Posted April 5, 2021 Author Report Posted April 5, 2021 Just a few seconds of flying video. Glare made much of the video unusable... Quote
riffclown Posted April 19, 2021 Author Report Posted April 19, 2021 Kite is very stable in 20mph+ Quote
