riffclown Posted March 7, 2021 Report Posted March 7, 2021 So Kite #85 is going to be a theme kite, Dual Perspective Mesh. It will start out in Black and White (Leading Edge Black with White Screen) quickly move to color, (Black and Rainbow) Some are "over the rainbow" and in the middle will be a Yellow Brick Pattern, almost like a road. Kite name will be NIKA. The Cool side has been sewn and will be the pattern for the Warm side. "Not In Kansas Anymore" 1 1 Quote
riffclown Posted March 13, 2021 Author Report Posted March 13, 2021 The Yellow Brick pattern didn't seem to work for the center panel. LE is completed. Trying other ideas. YBR to the Emerald City perhaps?? Open for suggestions?? 1 Quote
riffclown Posted March 16, 2021 Author Report Posted March 16, 2021 Based on another suggestion.. Quote
riffclown Posted March 20, 2021 Author Report Posted March 20, 2021 I did away with the Oz. I just didn't want to try and do any more fine detail in the center of the kite. Decision made and continued with the build. Ready to Frame and Bridle.. Quote
mebeatee Posted March 20, 2021 Report Posted March 20, 2021 Your kites and your kite making journey is waaaaay kewl!!!! “Good stuff!!”....as Mr. Bethel would say back in the day.... bt 1 Quote
riffclown Posted March 20, 2021 Author Report Posted March 20, 2021 Thank You.. I try to learn something new from each kite. Quote
riffclown Posted March 20, 2021 Author Report Posted March 20, 2021 Bridle test went well but I will have to add something to fix the bit of flutter along the trailing Edge. The longer black strips want to flutter a bit. May add a separate inset, panel, or additional Design element in those spaces.. Kite is quite flyable but there will be more to come. This one isn't quite "finished" yet.. 1 Quote
riffclown Posted March 28, 2021 Author Report Posted March 28, 2021 So quick test in Mesh conditions verified the flutter condition has not been corrected. I still have a few more options. 1 Quote
JohnC Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 I really like the balloon. Nice touch. The kite looks great. 1 Quote
