Red Doug Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I'm just starting out with a Quad, working on stability in reverse flight. I'm going to put together a couple of longer linesets than the 75' I started out with and I wondering whether about 100' would be best to start working on precision figures and into ballet. Quote
ant man Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 15 feet is fine if you want to go to 100 feet thats fine to but i light winds it might be a problem you sholud ahave 3 linesets (75 100 50 feet) that way you have lines for all winds Quote
Dorsal Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 In competition, many fliers use 120' lines. They create a huge wind window, you just need to worry about going out of bounds. I usually fly with 80' lines, as they feel most comfortable to me. Quote
monkey Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I'm one of those who's "usually" on 120 foot lines, much for what Dorsal suggests, a huuuuge window to work with. Its also the standard for team flying which Im finding myself doing a lot more of lately. But, that being said, I do like 80 foot and foot play as well. Quote
Backspin23 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Yup I also use 120' lines in 80# and 150# and they work fine for me and now 120' is my standard line length for everyday use. Quote
John Barresi Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I'm a great lover of 120' lines myself, team or otherwise. It's nice to have all that sky. Quote
Penny Lingenfelter Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 At the ocean the longer lines are nice, but inland the 75-80 ft. is good for normal quad flying w/out the line lag. 120 for team is great. BB Penny Quote
John Barresi Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Line lag... That's why I have 50# lines. I agree with Penny, line lag sux... So I usually use the lightest line I can get away with. The Rev seems to like it when the lines are almost non-existent. Quote
Penny Lingenfelter Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 $50 lb's scares me. I am way to hard on my quad for 50lb. I'll stick with 80-90 lb. The weight doesn't appear to give it the lag as much as the length does. Of course John isn't known for kicking and dunking his kite every chance he gets. Quote
ant man Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 i dont go higher then 80# for my 1.5 and 1 and exp i use 100# for my blast and vented kites in heavy winds i do use 75 foot liones but 120 is good for the beach and haveing that wide sky Quote
