March flight report from Long Island...

Hey all....

I found some people to fly with this week, my kids wanted to get out and fly some. Too bad it was so cold, as the session didn't last too long. Mick was flying his well used Prism Stowaway Diamond, it's been his goto SLK for the last 3 years. It's kind of beat up, but still flies OK. I need to sew the nose, because the spine has poked through from too many nose dives into the not-so-soft sand. Both him & his sister took a turn at flying the Kitelife Ghost Delta, but it was kind of tough for the little ones to hold onto, as the wind was pretty brisk. Bailey was flying her snowflake for a while, but she got tired so we staked it down.

You'll see all three kites in the video. Hopefully we'll be able to get more kites out the next time, providing the weather is better.

honestly though,, that is really nice, great to see you spending the quality time with the family.. I now need to get my family out there flying their PIRATE. I was going to get my wife a zero g, but decided I will wait till spring gets here.

It takes a lot of patience to fly with the kids, and it's not very relaxing. But totally worth it, because they seem to enjoy it. They ask to come out flying more & more. My daughter wandered into my son's flying space, and that's why I had to cut the video short... to go and get her out of the way. It would be easier with more adults on the field, that's for sure !

It's still March !

More video flight reporting...

Storms hit us hard this year, there was a big change in my flying space. It used to be 125' wide at the lowest tide, and shrink to ~50' at high tide. Well, the storms re-shaped the beach, took away most of those big rocks & left soft sand in it's place. The only problem is that at high tide, the flyable space has shrunk to ~10 feet wide. The upshot to the situation is that from mid-tide down, the beach 150'+. I've been working at clearing the tons of debris, there are uprooted trees sticking out of the sand everywhere... not a good place for fabric !

Almost High Tide...

A little past mid-tide...

At least the wind's still good !

While I was flying my Micron stack, I found this piece of driftwood :ani_idea: , and tied the handles on. It worked great to control the kites with one hand, although the pull is a little much in higher winds. Sorry if the video's a little shaky, flying with one hand and filming with the other is a bit of a challenge...

I did fly the Rev, but can't film and fly that ! It might still be a little bit cold, but what a great month for flying. I even attracted some interested people with a big SLK today. SLKs are definitely people magnets !
