Ordered my Kymera!!

So... Long time lurker, first time poster. I've got to say I love this group! I've been casually involved with kiting since about '96 when my family went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. There I got a Rev Backtracker. It was the coolest kite I'd ever seen at the time. Had a ton of fun with it on that trip. Subsequent trips resulted in the purchase of a few other kites. A no-name dual line, a Prism 3d and most recently a Prism Quantum. I've enjoyed every one of them and still fly the Backtracker and Quantum. I decided it was time to throw some money at a higher end kite. After much perusing of the interwebs, and this forum, I finally decided on a Kymera. I'm so excited to get it! I'm in northern Indiana, so we generally have some breeze of varying degree. An UL isn't necessary most days, but I do like the wind range it should have. Seems like it should be flyable in fairly light winds. So anyway that's that. If you read this, sorry for the rambling but I do appreciate this place and all the great people that inhabit it. I hope to eventually post some pics and vids if I get something worthy of sharing. Thanks! Brian

Welcome to KiteLife, glad you joined & are posting. Many, including myself, had our first sport kite experiences on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Had some trouble even launching that first day. Not from lack of wind but too much. But after some repeated trying we got our Premier Aerosport in the air & then learned about scudding. Little did we know that day that we should not fly in high wind. But what great fun we had. Still carrying the memories with a big smile. Still have that kite.

I think you'll be very happy with the K-kite. It can fly in a pretty low breeze on short lines & a little footwork, better than most standard kites. I never flew mine in winds over 10mph, so I can't comment on that. Probably winds better suited for your BackTracker or even Quantum. I just got my Kymera back in my bag, and am so looking forward to flying it again.

Welcome to KL !

A bunch of flyers in the Chicagoland area and within 100 miles. Join the IKE (Illinois Kite Enthusiasts) forum if you haven't already, and join in the fun.
