kitecrazy
Curious? Who would you rather teach to fly, A newbie(never flown a multi-line kite) or a sport kite flyer? kitecrazy "wind junkie"
Penny Lingenfelter
Who would I rather teach? I don't think it matters any more. In the beginning I would have rather taught a newbie, but now a dual flyer is fine with the way I give lessons. Their fear that they will have difficultys is unfounded. Once in a while I'll call... "oh, that's a two string thing".. but I haven't had to slap a dual flyer in about 2 years. I might just be getting soft, huh? Now a power flyer in light wind is another story. I find a few of them that need the pull of a kite in order not to overcontrol it and pull it out of the sky. A vented Rev.two for a power kiter can be challenging even in the highest winds. Put up a bigger kite, and they are more comfortable. That's a generalization by the way....... not true of all power kiters. BB Penny
CLTKiter
I need to duck in here... I've taught both dual-liners and newbies, and it's fun to teach each how to fly quads. In my view, dualies have a slight handicap since they keep wanting to fly a quad like a dual. But that's just the challenge of teaching them. I was able to spend about 15 min with my [non-flying] son-in-law, and he had the general knack of quads in that time. You couldn't get the grin off his face. So, I'm with Penny. Be glad to teach anyone. Have more quad flyers that way. Doug
grumpy
The only luck I've had teaching anyone to fly quads was with my son-in-law. He had some experience flying duals and really liked my Flexies. I started him on an Eolo quad foil i had , and he did good so I put him on my EXP. He did ok and enjoyed it enough to try it again. He pounded the sand a few times but did better than I did when I first started. It doesn't really matter if they are a newbie or a dual flyer . I have tried to help a couple of others with no luck. Sure could have used your help Doug but you weren't available.
monkey
I've taught both and I tend to prefer the newbies, there are no bad habits to break them of beyond the bad bad BAD habit of not flying enough (one I'm awfully guilty of, I'm here for penance)
