  1. New here, been flying since mid 90s, My first kite was a Flexifoil Impulse. Then a Scorpion...we used to fly in Team in Italy, I was STACK ND From 94 to 98, organized many competitions and one EuroCup. Stopped flying around 2003 and starting now again. So many new tricks. I fly both dual and quad. Refreshing my kite bag I got recently Benson SuperNova set and SuperFly set. Amazing kites. I own Revs, Prism and mostly Benson kites.

  2. I would think Yuma would have more reliable wind than the Phoenix area. You should check out the Algodones Dunes while you're there - nice wide-open space, plus it might make for some stunning kite pictures. If you fly there, please let me know how it turns out! The dunes are probably best known for representing Tatooine in Return of the Jedi during the Sarlacc Pit scene.

  3. Just like the Carolina Kite Festival this past weekend, the winds were high for the weekly community kite fly. But I did get to fly my new Peter Lynn Kite Show during the week. And The Wind Blows Again

  4. 13 MPH with gusts. The 1.5 full vent performed well with as much pull as I wanted. What I finally realised was that I was flying with the 2 top strings as my focus and the other 2 bottom strings were for change. The main force is forward and the rest flows from that power. It made it easier for my mind to keep the sail full and moving, because I could remember where home was. Got the handles laid way back with the JB handle leads. Holding onto those 2 top strings, I only had to slightly wiggle my little fingers to hold or change direction. Now for the long road of dicipline. I want to be a good flyer.

  5. Whoooopps bit of a hijack here. My bad. High wind quads really make me get the itch. Getting pretty excited about seeing XT/HV and peoples opinions on them.

  6. Breezin - if the rods have an Ultralight designation - yes - 3 wrap. 150# lines?? Never needed more than 90/100#, even on a 1.5 x/v. 150# is way overkill and may be too heavy in lighter winds. Age of manufacture is not as important as overall condition. We use a 1 to 10 scale to rate the condition, 1 being garbage and 10 as close to new as possible. When buying, ask and hope they are honest in appraisal.

  7. In the Phoenix area, the best places I've found so far are Scottsdale Sports Complex and the fields in and around Riverview Park in Mesa. Sometimes you can find decent wind at Chaparral Park. Caveat - I live on the east side, and haven't really explored elsewhere. The sports fields around Salt River Fields are great, but I've gotten conflicting information on whether they allow kites or not. Some staffers will kick you off the fields, while others will enjoy watching you fly. There are no posted signs stating one way or the other that I've seen. In general, the wind here is really hit or miss, and it's hardly ever smooth. Right now we've gone nearly three weeks without any wind worth mentioning, other than maybe a couple of hours during my workdays (of course). Anyone else have any other good places? I could use some new suggestions as well!

  8. Once in awhile one of these massive beasts will fly in close and watch me flail around for a bit.Golden Eagles fear nothing except each other. Doesn't happen often but it's mind blowing how close they'll get.Makes me grin for days.Would be stunning to have a kite in the air with a California Condor. Maybe even with you when you reach your goals LOL🤣.
