We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. This is a brand new Jammin' sport kite by Dodd Gross, from Skydog Kites, roughly a $139 value! A good intermediate all-rounder and trick kite, it includes lines and straps, a great addition for any kite bag! http://www.skydogkites.com/stuntkites/jammin.shtml I've actually had personal time on this model before, it's a solid mid-size precision trick kite. (primary prize color is white as pictured) == If you haven't done so already, You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/356, and will be drawn on November 1st, 2016! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin.

Will probably do the drawing sometime after noon PST - got family errands, thanks for your patience! -
Hi fliefish, glad you found us! For vanilla flying (outdoor long line), I think Portland's overall best site is Broughton Beach. That's where I do all my lessons locally, wind is less consistent at Delta and it has more dog bombs.

Looks like we had two active discussions going under two identical topics, now merged - sorry if it throws anyone off, but continuity seems to be fairly intact.

No leads but I think there were two DVDs... "Way to Fly" and "Way to Fly Advanced". Have you tried calling Prism directly? Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app

Trying to do the side slide with a two line kite.
John Barresi replied to Brewster's topic in Beginners
Pretty much. Can be applied anywhere low in the window if you control the line tension enough that the kite doesn't power up. My side slide example is :38 in this video... There were some earlier comments about "leading" tension with the line on the side you're traveling toward... True - some similarity to a "quad slide" (one arm back), but very subtly. -
26 tickets sold thus far, thanks all!

Trying to do the side slide with a two line kite.
John Barresi replied to Brewster's topic in Beginners
That's how I've always looked at it, with the additional idea of using it to "throw" the kite's inertia into a slide. -
The team I was on in 1995 (Invisible Wind) flew for Shanti, using Allegros - neat find!

Send me a PM if you're serious, happy to explore ideas.

Good question! Rates - http://johnbarresi.com/kite-lessons-instruction/#lessons Of course, this doesn't include travel expense and lodging (but I fly economy and even a couch will suffice). In many cases, it's actually cheaper for a student to fly me in and put me up than it is to join a clinic with hotel, gas, etc.
