  1. Back safe, playing catch up today, TONS to do between now and Sunday when TK and I leave for WSIKF.
  2. Aye, I'm headed to Bogota with iQuad early this morning... This is our second year attending, looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. I'll be home really late on the 9th, then off to WSIKF on the 15th... No rest for the wicked, I tell you! See you all soon, somewhere.
  3. Another somewhat related article... http://kitelife.com/...stelmos69/content.php Remember folks, this may be fascinating stuff, but its not to be taken lightly.

  5. Thanks for posting Matt. Here are the two PUSH articles we've had in Kitelife thus far... http://kitelife.com/magazine/issue71/kap71/content.php http://kitelife.com/magazine/issue73/push73/content.php
  6. Here's a great reference for trick flying...
  7. Just bumping, issue 73 is now online.
  8. I have a bit of an expose piece in this issue of Kitelife, check out the Kites... Life article. http://www.kitelife....agazine/issue73 I list off all the teams, and share some of my thoughts on team flying.
  9. It's mostly design, aerodynamics. Also, it's not just getting the kite to flip, it's also a matter of how it behaves once you've got it in that flipped (fade or turtle) position. Wind + surface angles + shape + weighting = result
  10. Well done Reef, I've never seen such persistence in a situation such as this. Tip 'o the hat sir.
  11. The one you're looking at seems to fly (i.e. steer) alright from the video, but I wouldn't expect it to do more than steer and spin (both fun in their own right). And for $24, it won't be a real loss in any case... Enough to get in the sky and fly around, for sure. The big one doesn't look like it's very nimble at all, not a single loop or tight turn in the video, looks a little bloated flight-wise. Let us know what you experience once your new kite has been broken in, eh?
  12. What is it?
  13. There are others, but these are a few really, really good examples of dual line team flying... Aftershock Cutting Edge Overdrive Scratch Bunnies Not a lot of teams like this these days... Power, speed, accuracy, complexity and brilliant choreography.
  14. Interesting, and a little scary! Anyone else had similar experiences?
  15. Fair enough, I totally understand. Have you found our out of print kite mags yet? All in PDF - http://www.kitelife.com/library
  16. Premier is among the commonly known, solid brands... Also there are Prism, New Tech, Skydog and a few others who I'm sure will be mentioned in replies to follow. The performance and materials used in individual models from any of these companies vary widely, most often in line with the price. I know that doesn't fill in the blanks you're immediately looking for, but it's what I've got to offer at the moment.
  17. That's correct, and we're quite clear about that... From the very first paragraph on our home page: Also, from our subscription info: Frankly, the prime benefits of being subscriber are the prize drawings and full access to our massive archive of videos (including picture-in-picture tutorials)... Ultimately, subscriptions help us keep expanding our efforts in promoting, displaying and making kiting more readily available to others in all of its fullness through online media, education and on-field presence at events all over the country. That being said, we also have a unconditional 30 day refund policy on all subscriptions... Again, Kitelife is my passion, and one of many vehicles for kiting... No games in that, just doing what we do, sharing the passion and keeping the roof overhead. Let me know if I can facilitate with anything, or answer any questions, anytime.
  18. TK and I are headed down to the Berkeley Kite Festival this weekend, hope to see y'all there! Event info - http://www.highlinekites.com
  19. Coupon code 30SAVINGS gets you 30% off tees, hats and mugs until July 30th, orders of $40 or more.
  20. Thanks for the support, much appreciated. Not available yet, but our next issue will be at - http://www.kitelife....agazine/issue73 Again, it'll be ready for viewing in the first week of August... We typically post news/updates to our Facebook page (below), but I'll make a note to try and remember to post here on the forum as well. http://www.facebook.com/kitelife
  21. That's awesome Tim. I'm not a KAP guy myself, but I love seeing the work of others! Did you see this article from issue 71 of Kitelife? http://kitelife.com/magazine/issue71/kap71/content.php Same author has sent us something for this next issue as well, to be released on the web first week of August.
  22. Just realized, I'm taking off for Bogota, Colombia on the 5th of August... Should have Internet there though, and I have every intention of doing the drawing from there once I get settled. Someone give me a poke if it's not done by the 7th.
  23. A regular diamond kite will not handle like a fighter... Fighters handle the way they do because of their ability to go flat (loose line - kite rotates) or bend into an airfoil (line tension - kite flies forward). Diamonds are pre-shaped and bridled to direct wind off the tail and be tail-heavy for stability (in theory), most often with a tail. - Fighter Kite on Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighter_kite North American Fighter Kite Association - http://www.nafka.net/
