Another in the ongoing series of Kitelife Magazine tutorials for using Revolution quad line kites, this one detailing how to equalize your lines, ensuring equal length between right and left. All types of line stretch or "settle in" over time and will eventually end up uneven by varying amounts which effects the accuracy of your inputs accordingly... You'll be amazed at how the kite responds more accurately, and how easy it actually is to balance out your line lengths. 9. Cross-posting from the WSKC Facebook page... Videos and news posted by: http://www.youtube.c...ser/prokiteclub == DAY ONE (of three) Precision Scores Precision Compulsories Ballet Scores and Overall Results == 1st place in ballet - Scratch Bunnies (UK) 2nd place in ballet - Red Bull Kiteforce (France) 3rd place in ballet - Start'Air (France) == 1st place in precision - Red Bull Kiteforce (France) 2nd place in precision - Scratch Bunnies (UK) 3rd place in precision - Start'Air (France) == The two favorites going in were probably Red Bull Kiteforce and Scratch Bunnies, both led by past World Champion captains (Yasu Numata and Carl Robertshaw, respectively)... The rest of the week promises to be a real battle, and we'll keep bringing you news as it's delivered on the WSKC Facebook page. http://www.facebook....ps/338716358174 Also, more information can be found on the WSKC home page - http://www.worldsportkite.com
  10. Cross-posting from the WSKC Facebook page, the Scratch Bunnies team practicing in Berck sur Mer France prior to this years World Sport Kite Championships to be held this week. These guys are common favorites for a top three finish this year.
  11. Cool, looking forward to it Walt!
  12. Indeed... It's a classic. I had good times with TC back in 1992 when I was touring the east coast during my first serious year of competition.
  13. I like this example in particular... http://www.revkites.com/forum/blog/7/entry-131-the-universe-is-uncanny-at-serving-up-what-we-need-the-most-in-the-guise-of-things-we-fear-the-most/
  14. Indeed, I second everything Rich said above. Try the Rev forum, let it play out, I think you'll be surprised.
  15. I'll be doing some later this year, but for now you can find some on YouTube here... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=stunt+kite+tutorial&aq=f Also, Randy Greenway's site here... http://cid-268807a1b99b3f7c.profile.live.com/Lists/cns!268807A1B99B3F7C!103/
  16. The added length drives me nuts, right along with the diameter... But it's all about personal taste. 75% pilot, 25% equipment.
  17. I just got to looking at this topic, looks awesome. Over the years, I've become *very* particular to the exact thickness (diameter) of the grips... In order to preserve this, I had my friend Walt modify mine in similar fashion. Mine still come out the front of the rod instead of the end, as I'm so active with my hand movements, I thought it'd wear less. Having the leaders come out of the ends of the caps, do you find it promotes more friction/rubbing/wear?
  18. Ah, you mean maneuvers (i.e. sequences of movements)... Terminology is important, as movements are individual aspects that comprise a maneuver. Trick with maneuvers, they vary geographically, not only with what maneuvers are being done, but also how they're called. Really, don't over think this... Just learn what you can from what you have, flying ability is most important, the maneuvers are learned very quickly on the fly if you can control your kite adequately.
  19. 180s... Stable hover facing 12, 1:30, 3, 4:30, 6, 7:30, 9 and 10:30 on the clock... Not necessarily switching between each of them, just owning each angle. Reverse flight over a distance of 30'-50', particularly coming from the lower right and left corners, backing up into ball formation. Controlled speed flight in straight lines, figure 8's, etc. I'm sure there's more, but that's what I can think of at the moment. It's fine to post these questions here, but surely you'd get far more responses on the Rev forum? Not everyone there reads over here on a regular basis.
  20. "Dosey do" is the same as "matrix"... Same move, just a more common name for it, at least here on the west coast.
  21. Dosey-Do (aka "Matrix"), you fly out a little, then do a slightly wide wingtip pivot turn to swap places. Even doing benefits, you fly forward about 4"-8" before actually making the swap... This fills the sail, creates stability, and helps ensure kites are out of each others way.
  22. Aye, that's one of the ongoing issues with the AKA web site... It uses "frames", which is what doesn't allow the URL (web address) to change. There is a trick to getting the specific URL (which I know), so here it is - http://aka.kite.org/?cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b=nkm,m=1269612293 Thanks.
  23. URL is the web address (www.etc)... It's generally not great etiquette to copy over entire posts between forums, far better tact to post the link and why folks should look at it.
  24. Hrm, interesting poster... I think kitefliers get it, but the overall visual seems really uninspiring for non-kitefliers, regardless of kinds of kites they used. Also, it looks like the logos were simply dropped on there raw, glue and paper style... No nipping and trimming to get them to look right. Duane, could you post a URL here so we can see the related discussion on AKA's forum?
  25. Just found this, looks like TC is still kicking! http://www.tcultra.com/ -also- http://www.savannahsailsandrails.com/
