  1. Hear hear Moonie, happy 29th!
  2. Looks great Mike! As for the IMG tags, I would guess we're not set up to display PNGs via that method... Should be able to upload it as an attachment though, or just post a GIF version of it in IMG tags. Just got the one in my signature from JD Fabich, in an non-animated version... Also, the two below, one of which he did animate. Nice work JD... You got me tickled. Keep 'em coming ya'll!
  3. I actually back up a touch sometimes when I do hard stops.
  4. Very cool... But, I'd like to see some generated with the traditional smiley parts.
  5. Hmmm... Were they posted here in the forum? I still have this link - http://kitelife.com/photos/index.php?cat=10041 If you posted them here, they should still be up... But obviously, they aren't in any of your posts. The reason I say they should still be up, mine are still all here... Albeit in the original "large" posting style, instead of our new nifty thumbnails. http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?showto...findpost&p=1767 Feel free to upload more, even by editing your old posts and adding them into the original messages... And, you can find all your postings here: http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?act=Se...alluser&mid=117 Sorry Mike, please put 'em up for everyone to ogle yet again?
  6. Sounds right, it will just come down to time on the kite... It's bigger, and requires a different style.
  7. Well, I just spent the last hour pulling apart emoticon pieces... While I'm still trying to figure out the animation deal, I have a good amount of smiley components for anyone who'd like to take a stab at it. - - - - - We're holding a contest for whoever can come up with the best kite smileys for use on the Kitellife forum, multiple submissions are welcome... If we can reach a minimum of 10 total smiley submissions, I'll run a poll here (for all users) so they can select their favorite out of the bunch! Both animated and non-animated smileys will be considered, but here are some ideas... - Flying dual or quad through a dogstake - A team of smileys, flying together - Smiley being pulled by a huge stack - Kite buggying smiley - Etc... Use your imagination! Finished smiley should be no larger than 200px wide, and 80px high. Winner(s) will receive their choice of the following: - 1 year Kitelife subscription (non-subscribers only) - 1 year Basic Web Hosting plan w/Kitelife - 1 Kitelife Sweatshirt or T-Shirt The pieces are in PNG format (Fireworks), one file... If you don't use Fireworks, the PNG file should open up fine in your image editor. Eyes, mouths and bodies are all separated for Fireworks users, otherwise a little cut and paste should work A-OK. Contest ends November 1st, so get cracking!
  8. My pleasure!
  9. All posts merged... This was originally posted (w/out photos) a couple of months ago, and I just had to organize things a little.
  10. Neat rig Jason, very smooth.
  11. I'd be curious to take a reading on how many of you have actually browsed the Kite Lines archives, and what you found to be of the most interest... Please take a moment to share your thoughts with us.
  12. Published from 1977 to 2000, Kite Lines was the longest-running professional magazine in kite history to its end-point in time. It was the authoritative and comprehensive source of kite news and the trusted standard of reference for kiting internationally. The writing was done by kitefliers, for kitefliers, peer-reviewed and scrupulously edited to produce compressed but in-depth and accurate prose, reliable for the expert but readable for the novice. The photography and illustrations were researched and selected for informational value as well as visual impact. The pages were designed to enhance and clarify the stories and the reading experience. Finally, Kite Lines was printed in full color on glossy stock. In presenting Kite Lines in an electronic format, we are striving to maintain the original look and feel of the magazine to the fullest extent possible. You will find in the 50 issues that follow some of the most respected authors and photographers in kiting's recent decades of exciting growth. Kite Lines was the place where these contributors came to be published, where they trusted the editing and layout that would reinforce their work. Kite Lines, too, was the place where research was done that brought out and discovered many of the names that are now recognized as leaders in kiting, writing and illustrating. Each issue takes our editor between four and eight hours to convert to searchable PDF format, and are being released every other month, in-between our regular issues of Kitelife... Until all 50 issues are on line. After a great deal of consideration, we also decided to include all advertisements as well to illustrate the history and evolution of sport kiting with full accuracy. The Kite Lines archives are absolutely free to view, are somewhat large at 12MB each or so, but are very well worth the download. Check out what we have so far: http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?autoco...amp;showcat=114
  13. We'll be keeping this topic updated each time we add a new volume. Here is the approximate schedule: November 1st - Volume 11 (4 issues) January 1st - Volume 12 (4 issues) March 1st - Volume 13 (final 2 issues) Every two months, in-between the issues of Kitelife Magazine.
  14. Interesting... You'll have to dose us with some details, and maybe some video!
  15. I for one don't mess with the kite or bridle... For me, a Rev I is perfect the way it is. All I do is tie a knot at the line attachment points (if there isn't one already), and larks head my lines straight on. All adjustments on my kite are done at the handle end.
  16. You got it Mike, removed it from the emoticon list... Sorry, had no idea! We've got plenty of others to entertain with.
  17. Neat photos Wen-Fu, especially of Taipei International Festival... I had a very good time there in 2004, and I remember your kites.
  18. Thanks kitepilot... More to come!
  19. Aha, found the posting... I had put up an image of my own Rev handles a few months ago. This will give you an idea of how I have mine set up. :revvin:
  20. And here you have it... The new forum! Please take the time to update your profile via "My Controls" in the upper right of this page, check out the photo gallery, etc. I'll post help topics on some of the new features over the next few weeks. FYI - photos are added to your gallery through "My Controls"... Official Kitelife Subscribers can upload up to 100MB of photos, and regular users can upload up to 5MB. If you'd like to subscribe, there is now an option to do so through "My Controls".
  21. Bless you Monks, much appreciated.
  22. How's your butt, still sore? http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=664
  23. Hello, We had the board offline for the last couple of days, exploring options for new software or upgrading what we use now... After trying a whole bunch of different board (vBulletin, phpBB, etc), we've elected to continue with Invision Board and have ordered an upgrade from v1.2 (what we use as of 10/26/05) to v2.1.2! At some point in the next 24-72 hours, the board wil be temporarily inactive while Invision technicians handle the upgrade for us. Some of the customized features will be gone in the new version, until we can add them again. - Spell Check - Off-forum links (upper right) - "Center" tags (bbCode) - Chosen color/font for users (currently configurable in "My Controls") - Real name field in private profile (admin viewable only) New features will eventually include... - Fully configurable and customizable bbCODE - Links database (replacement for our WebLinks) - Multiple attachments - Download area - Membermap (leave your pin on the world) - Photo Gallery (replacement for our PhotoFiles) - Emoticons in signatures - Functioning spell checker - Skype link in profile info - And much, much more... Our goal is to consolidate the forum with our photo gallery and links services, as well as make everything MUCH more configurable for both users and admin. The total upgrade is costing Kitelife $185... If you would like to help us absorb the cost of this upgrade and installation, please consider becoming an official subscriber (if you haven't already) or donating to our cause (via PayPal or check by mail) in any amount, via the button below. If the donation link does not work, you can send donations to us via your PayPal account... All donations should go to webmaster(at)kitelife(dot)com, just replace (at) and (dot) to properly represent our real email address. My sincerest thanks to all of you, for being a part of what we do here at Kitelife.
  24. Here's some light wind info... Dual - http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue39/l...ind39/index.htm Quad - http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue40/l...ind40/index.htm Maybe it'll get this thread going.
  25. Graphite wrapped vs metal SUL handles... There is a slightly different angle to the bend as well, and the grip (foam) is slightly larger in the hand. I prefer the older ones myself.
