@John Barresi's first moments with the Symphony 2.2.4. Once I got it unpacked and ready, I handed the handles to JB at the 1:00 mark for his extremely short familiarization with the modded foil. Like SHBKF, I was very interested i hearing his first impressions. It validated a lot of how I feel about this foil and the conversion. Notice how he puts it through the paces very quickly and find the limits of the sail. I spoke with him about the few idiosyncrasies with this item and he decided he was ready to play. This ground cam segment is the immediate precursor to the JB & Scott video above. The "Warmup before the dance" if you will. At 4:02 you see him decide to run over ans start interacting with Scott and the lake..
Practicing my side slide over the kite eating lake..
FWIW, We ALL put a kite in the water this week.. Some intentionally, some not so much.. Also for the record, seawater soaked, sandy ripstop is HEAVY1
looking at footage from the other end of the lines, the kite wasn't travelling that slow in the inner cone of the wi dow. it was just travelling a lot farther for the same angular change at the handles. It did exhibit drag on the lines that slowed it down and limited the larger than normal window a lot. But it was a huge window to begin with. Keep in mind this was a SUL sail in light wind conditions.
FWIW, if it hadn't been for the dune line, JB would have pulled off the 360 on 240's.The speed of the kite wasn't the limiting factor. Size of the field was the issue. 30 more feet of flat beach and it would have been absolutely unreal.
Same offer I made Mike, if you get any issues with the rear bridles, I'll fix it if needed.. The PDF instructions are also a decent reference of fixing whatever might go wrong..
Most definitely, Hats Off to you Lynn for organizing a great event.. The GoPro I had on the field caught John putting the power touch on one of your kites..
