  1. Will have to determine a few options. it is VERY slightly undersized vertically.. I may add material to the top like on the very first diamond kite.
  2. #89 throw Launch
  3. From the album: Riffclown's Homemades

    Negligible Wind
  4. Remember me saying ignore the Blue?? 72" Vented for my bag is underway now.. Will be a demo kite to share.
  5. and 21 hours later. I still need to do bungees, caps and bridle but all the sewing is done.
  6. @Dexter Stephens Well a lot has changed in the 7 years since the previous post.. You are correct, A lot of people are loyal to iPhone but a lot are also just as adamantly loyal to Android and dare I say, Samsung.. And the inverse of that is also true. There are folks who won't even consider one because of the other.. The question though wasn't about branding but using the phone's Browser vs. an App like Tapatalk.. Personally, I do have the App installed on my phone but rarely use my phone for KiteLife. My Tablets work just fine using Chrome.. YMMV I know a few folks here ONLY use Tapatalk for the most part so it's just a matter of personal preference across the board.. I will note that the KiteLife app does sometimes create duplicate posts and topics.
  7. First panel basted. Porch light backlit. will get a sunlight picture in the AM for you.
  8. While it still very rough at the moment imagine here being the leading edge.. Turn it to the proper angles and you can see roughly the right wing of the kite.. Still a long ways to go aligning and building the center but this should help visualize where the pattern is coming from.
  9. Ignore the blue. it's merely a place holder for now.
  10. OK but they are kind of "meh" until I get to the pattern reveal. Hopefully Tomorrow.
  11. Me too..
  12. Fabric strips are cut and Leading edge is ready and waiting.
  13. Kite # 89 will be a riffclown Diamonds vented sail. Will start cutting strips and prepping the fabric this evening. it's been a while since I've made a Diamonds..
  14. Getting there. Waiting for new LE colors to come in. Thinking Dk Blue for this sail..

  16. Red, Orange, Flo Orange, Gold, Yellow and Flo Yellow.
  17. Leading edge is ready.. And Punched..
  18. With the successful field test in high winds of YTB this past weekend, it's time to make a few more. Kite #87 will be Purples and Blues. This will be a slightly slower build because I'm documenting everything to hopefully make a repeatable pattern with this one. LE is 72" and will have holes instead of screen. (Right now #88 is planned to be a sunset fade to test the process from this build..)
  19. I had a machine that didn't feed the material very well. Changed over to a cheaper machine with a very sharp needle and have had minimal issues since. Again, you should not be pulling or pushing the material.. That is the sewing machine's job. If it is not feeding the material then something like a walking foot is probably in order. FWIW, My machine is not what I would consider a heavy duty. 80+ kites later the $100 machine is doing fine. Just needs the cleaning every bobbin or so. you should be able to put two scraps on top of each other, place one finger on top to guide and sew a straight seam down the two. If you can't then something is amiss. If you look closely when the machine is still, you can see where the seam tape gum has formed a small ball at the top of the needle. That's the spot I clean every bobbin or so.
  20. Just a few seconds of flying video. Glare made much of the video unusable...
  21. OK I'm not absolutely sure about this but I know the Exodus and Vertigo models are Ocean Shores Kites (OSK) models. I'm speculating the WindRider models are other models from Freilein that to my knowledge are not associated with OSK. Now IF that statement is true, I'll just say that Andy has a great grip on Quality control and very exacting standards. I do not know if the other models would meet the same standard.
