  1. The amount of Rev knowledge one can obtain in 1 night....poof..that was my brain!

  2. After approximately 20 to 30 hours of flying basically non stop on magic sticks...I find a better glide, easier slack line (axels, flic flacs) and easier recovery in those "rare" situations... Also, easier on the body with slack line tricks....specifically my shoulders.. Granted these were others people kites..but considering "whos" kites and setups were involved..besides handles. Maybe that will help for those thay do not fly with them...
  3. ..and by the way...kudos for the review! People with the passion to sit and write experiences is what keeps things going and growing. I started right here on Kitelife...every piece of info is more valuble than you could ever imagine
  4. and Rich Comras giving our own forum member Barton Bailey a hard time...
  5. Some stick love to get the juices flowing again.. 3 of Team Rev Riders... Laura Berg, Rich Comras, Paul Dugard Treasure Island 2014
  6. I figured that would get a stir...I am not saying your wrong by using them..or that it is wrong in any way....if it works for you..by all means fly them. Like mentioned...another "flavor". Ask Paul... he will be happy to tell you how long he was dead set against them....as an accomplished pilot with several thousands of hours flying..now he uses them. What happened?Did he get abducted and cloned? NO....his "flavor" changed..... Never rule out something cause it doesn't work for you today. The goal with the comment was to explore the kite completely..not just say...oh I can back up now, these are the best thing since sliced bread. Fly on! Magic sticks or not! Keep exploring....and don't forget to take them off after awhile and see what they have done for you..have your skills improved or declined through the use of said "elixer" ? Variety is the spice of life....
  7. As one that does not use sticks.. it can all be done without them .. and still be just as relaxing. Launches, belly launches(face up or down), axels,flic-flacs,glides unto the edge of the earth (it's flat you know)..etc..etc..and still with no kite stake.. As with the handle setup discussions. ...it's just another flavor... just remember, in another 25 hours your views may change. Nice review by the way...
  8. It's all about what you feel to be comfortable. Personally, I dig having to move, work, and pump the kite...some don't. But since you obviously have a leader setup on your handles...pull it in a knot or 2 on top if it feels like more work. Fly it for a reasonable amount of time before jumping to the conclusion you don't like it... maybe in a month, try it again. As your skills grow...your taste will change for different things...and different setups for different situations. Just play with it....there is no test at the end of the week
  9. With a big brake setup on your handles...you will need to pump your arms in towards your body and "whump" the kite to get your forward movement started. But along with the same setup comes easier hovers, reverse, and a more "nuetral" overall flight charecteristic.
  10. 2 shots Mr. Boyton shared of the recent session. These are by all means his photos..but being marked I am sure he is fine with me sharing. This is a local fort/state park near my home. It used to have all the cannons in it at each corner. Over time it is erroding inside the walls and they have been removed except for 1. There are a couple parks and historical landmarks in this area along the St Johns river. Walking trails, landmarks, descriptive plaques along the "marked" park areas of the history.
  11. Who has run what? I have run a B and Exp, Rev 2 and Exp as 2 stack setups. Currently working on putting something together with kites that don't get flown too much. What that equates to is a 5 stack of... 2 rev2s, 3 Exp....and maybe a B for a nice even 6. Making stack lines tonite and tomorrow..so comments will break the monotonous chore of knotting. Has anyone run odd numbers of different sizes before? I don't see it being and issue at all.
  12. Thumb and pinky....wiggle with your tongue hangin' out....like a true Kite Bum
  13. Brave soul...I would be shaking with the cold sweats already Good luck on your adventure...I will be reading and taking notes.
  14. ....and yes. Within the first 5 minutes. I know for sure of 1 picture...someone standing dead center of the old fort...flashing the international Rev sign
  15. Eat..Sleep..Kites............Repeat

  16. I had a visitor come through town again Mr. Peter Boyton. Last week he came through and got his 5 stack of Eyes on the local news I think we have decided to make this a regular outing. Today we looked at couple locations and settled on a local state park / fort on the St. Johns river in Jacksonville,Florida. The wind was a bit iffy to begin but quickly smoothed out and made for a fun morning. I even got the chance to make a run with his setup. My first k.a.p. run with a "real" setup. Here are a few pictures of us and the kite. I will share some of the actual run once photos are gone through...with Peters permission of course. Over 2000 photos ..one every 2 seconds on a auto pan/tilt rig. Having some rotation issues with a few photos i shot from the ground today. I will share them later once on a real computer...
  17. Yes vented both. The B2 vented was a Kitelife drawing winner My daughter is in Gainesville. ..will be coming through soon, we should fly. On another note, got some gliding video 2 seperate times..but have not loaded. May try to do a compilation of the videos for near the end and submit photos along the way. If the wind will agee enough tomorrow...a k.a.p. shot of some outdoor iflite play ? I will give it a shot
  18. Drooling all over everything. Geez ..I hate to see you part ways with some beautiful works of art.. Wish I could swing adding some of those to the collection . Wow!
