  1. I run 30+/- 90# lpg. I made some 50# 30'...but as "OATS" pointed out one day....it tends to knot up easily in the slack line situations .
  2. Absolutely smoking hot this afternoon.... Time for some in the water flying!

  3. 96 degreeeeees.....in 'da shaaaa...aaaaade!

    Now we are cookin'

  4. It's nice to see the bear out of the cave...as it went into hiding about the time I became a member here.. But the kite is still coming where no hibernation..?.. is needed.
  5. Caught a stiff wind...been flic flaccin my life away for the last hour!

  6. Let it rip! Use the high wind spreader setting(on top) for most static and tail flying conditions. The low wind setting( on face or bottom) for indoor and low wind acrobatics. Spine tension settings are also fun to play with in both situations. The low wind setting with tails in strong wind can be Fun but you have to be aware of possible damage (it will flex alot). Most of all have fun! I love mine and the Xl too.
  7. All this discussion has come at the right time for me...as its time for some new wings. Think i will be going with a mid (mostly black race rods)and full(4 wraps) with a 3 wrap to share....a new standard will be on the backburner for a bit.... Now if I could only figure out colors! May just ride the grey fade train for a little while longer
  8. After almost a week of no flying... I check the coastal winds and see a big fat 0...it's nice to know that it won't effect me one bit!

There WILL be a kite in the air!

  9. To "B" , or not to "B" or maybe 2 .... or 3

    That is the question?

  10. Well worth it! Just watch the nose dives...hard on the wing tip ends.
  11. Or, if you happened to be at Party at the Point last weekend: Terry will wrap everyone a few times before he drops his handles mid-flight and walks away to pee, while at the same time Bazzer tries to tangle up the newbie for kicks and giggles. In which case, much fun and untangling ensues! Gotta love it! Now that sounds like my type of crowd! Guess that's why I made so many sets of lines when I got started....no interruption.. just garb a new set I knew there was a reason!
  12. Chuck Taylor is the only one I have met...met him in Treasure Island. Not sure exactly how many..havnt got the fine details and not sure if I can even make the venture yet.
  13. I do the same....put the Walas up and play with the lines with my Rev...making them dip and dance It was a full day of heavy rain, and was just pondering the adventure. I am confident in my abilities to fly with others safely, but the whole line thing had me thinking.... I love pics of kites and ones with the lines visible even more. I believe it was an iquad pic recently that was shared that showed everyone, the kites, and all the lines twisted. Wonderful! I hope that I can make the trip, but if not (which seems to be the norm lately for one reason or another) it wont be too long before it happens for sure!
  14. I was recently invited to join a group of flyers for a weekend of flying. Now the drive is about 7 hours 1 way....but well worth it in my opinion....if possible financially, etc. What sensations can be expected from multiple quads twisting and crossing lines? Is the feedback similar to way to many wraps in the line? I fly by myself since the start..occasionally next to someone...but no real interaction between Kites and lines. I'm sure there will be plenty of this if I go and just trying to prepare myself .... Don't want to be the low man on the totem pole.
  15. All this rain....wish I had ordered an Iflite a week ago!

  16. I usually get rid of the race rods for 3 wrap in a standard around 6/10 depending on gust. The kite will tell you when to change by feel and the bow in the leading edge. I have never used no snag handles....but with the simple mods to standard handles , I have had no snags. Very simple mod. Don't have the link for you sorry.
  17. Besides some new Revs...this will be my next venture. We have some bridges in town that are lit with neon at night. Those will be my first goals besides playing on the coast.
  18. BOOMshakalaka! Free light show with sound effects....

  19. I would love too try! I have thought of a p.o.s. camera mount on the face of a rev or stack:)Very interested in the whole kapping thing. I have been reading a lot and speaking with a few forum members....eventually I will het to hook up with the Tampa bay folks again and get some fist hand advice.
  20. Is it bad that I own 4 pair of flip flops and only 1 pair of shoes?

    1. Reef Runner

      Reef Runner

OH, NO, that's NOT bad! NOT at all! It's NOT even abnormal, but surely not bad. If so, I'm terrible, very terrible !!! Nope, you shouldn't feel bad, not one bit. Get this - I'm currently away from home. I'm on vacation at the coast, and when I read your status update, I just had to count up (my flops), and comment.

Crap, I've got 6 pair with me (here on vacation), and I can easily count 7 more pair (back home). And get this, dam...

  21. What to do today?

The Kitelife Magazine giveway is over.... Didn't win :(

Maybe........ New Symrna for some kite flying?

  22. Hey rng! Over here...... Pssssst........ Send that thing my way!
  23. Here's a shot of them on the kite. Pressed between rod and bungee @ endcaps.
  24. Low and behold ...you are in a different spot...there is a large field right in front of Maxwell House, unfenced.
  25. I use something similar. Don't have a picture available right now..as I am on the beach. Oats...a member here gave me a set graciously...and they work quite well. Twist on and off with a rubber washer for "waterproofing". Last forever...had mine for months ,with several sessions...and still havnt had to change battery. With a single l.e.d., there is a very slim draw on the cell
