  1. Fly in the street and neighbors yard (power lines) regularly. Gotta do what you gotta do!
  2. I used straight dacron with no core.....I believe that is what John was commenting about.
  3. Never realize how much you depend on your trusty cell....until it takes a crap and you need that number NOW!

  4. I was dabbling, usually I put a core in everything...including leaders. The Dacron stretches too much alone.
  5. Hey Rob, Sounds like you better learn how to make your own bridles............I love to make them out of two different colors. I use one color for the long horizontal piece, and a contrasting color for the two vertical sections............ Made my first 2 over the weekend, as I got the gift of a new one for free. Figured I should take advantage of it. 80# dacron from the local fishing store @ 10cents a yard.
  6. They are eye catching.. I would think that they would be the same dimensions shape wise, as revolution tagged. Same frames- same bridle also, I would assume. Have you looked at any videos? Mad quad or the polo site? It looks to me that they perform just fine
  7. I see some large canvas in multiple sections, as to take up a large wall in a commercial setting....school,hospital,courthouse,etc... even a donated painting(if displayed),in this nature, would bring smiles...and most certainly media coverage of some sort. Just some thoughts before I head out to fly after 4 days of rain and high wind......SUNSHINE and mid teens wind!
  8. I have seen this. Terry Rankin also dabbles in this from what I hear, seen a picture or two. Actually believe they auctioned some off recently...paintings that is.
  9. What a forecast and I work outdoors at the beach.

    100% rain,30mph winds w/ gust to 40.

Let me guess, the boss wants to work today....

  10. I'll take door number 3 Bob.. been wanting one of those
  11. Welcome my friend! Step inside and enjoy the ride
  12. No votes for the Emong? Does no one prefer this one? I have seen several good videos and eyeballing one at the local shop. Just passing time and wondering....?
  13. I have not been fortunate enough to find a spot for indoors. We have a mall that is 2 stories locally, been thinking of just breaking it out and seeing how long it takes security to run me out. and what's really bad is the winds blowing......and I find myself wishing for none.... Who knew?!
  14. 20,456 steps on the pedometer today and didn't put it on un til 10. No telling how many times I hit the reset button.

  15. Very bright. Mr.Rankin had one of these in the sky at T.I. this year and it is very easy to see and track.
  16. Sounds of thunder . I guess its official, after some 90 degree days and now afternoon storms.... Summer is here! Let the sweating begin!

  17. Yes I'm learning Wayne. I like to try it all as its mentioned.. I am not book smart, I like to have the experience as my learning curve. I did like the loose spine in a steady ...very slight puff, tensioned it up a bit more otherwise.
  18. Oh my! I just dropped my Negra Modelo! 2 more Revolution giveaways? It's gonna be a long wait...
  19. Nothing worse than sitting down to read and catch up on my favorite kite forum.....

And finding out there is not a square to spare. :P

  20. I have flown both sizes ( full sail ) or a 1.5& rev2 in 20+. The pull is fun on the larger kite, and good control becomes difficult...but damaging in the long run. On that note...the Rev II is an absolute blast at higher wind speeds...and comes too life! Plus I got it for 20bucks , so it for sure gets the "fly it like ya stole it" treatment.
  21. Hmmm....... St.Augustine tomorrow.

    To do:

    Kite shop

    Beach

Flying @ the fort or Salvador Dali museum might be on the menu?! Might have some interesting kite footage..

  22. I can't comment on the mids or full vent.(never used)or the 2 or 4 wrap rods.. but with a standard sail I run black race rods always until the wind picks up. Then 3 wrap, which is the same as Ultra light, if i am not mistaken. I find the flex of race rods quite nice and useful in the lower wind ranges...
  23. Sushi and Red Hook " Audible Ale"

Not the best choice of brew for this combination...but after a sub 90 degree day... I'll take it!

  24. I would like to try the wand, but i like the line running free right now. I can see a benefit of the flex of the wand from many of the videos available and how it would be useful. Funny thing .... with the standard and the xl, if the breeze is just right ...they will float in place slack lined. It's pretty cool...like the ultimate hover I put them up on windy days too...so it was a good choice for now
  25. Gust are always a pain, but it does improve your control. For my taste, my sweet spot is right in your 5/10 range(or pretty close) w/black race rods and 50lb line on a full sail. Any higher, i switch to 3 wrap and sometimes switch line to 90lb.
