  1. I must say that I am very fortunate to live in a town like Jacksonville as a kite flier. With our river, seven bridges, downtown, city parks, and last but not least....beaches. The wind is accessible everywhere.. It gives me many locations to say...that looks like a good spot, stop, and let it fly!

And when no wind is to be found....break a sweat, run it out on the beach, and let it fly!

  2. Thanks Ian.. following you topics closely, especially the specific kite threads, since I just obtained a Quantum myself. The only dualies I have flown were foils.... And a light grip usually doesn't work too well.
  3. The race rods are very durable...take it from me. For my preference they do have there "window " of use. I don't have specific wind speeds of use..more by feel and control. When the leading edge loses its true "arc" and becomes looking like 3 separate angles ,or control/braking gets too difficult, I switch to 3 wrap. Only have black race and 3 wrap frames ,so I can't comment on the others. Also can double up the leading edge with these for strong winds, but I don't recommend it. I would follow others advice here ... If you need a double, you should be switching to mid or full vent. My full sail is proof it can be costly.. Nice sail!
  4. A day of no work.... But plenty of rain.

What's a kite flyer supposed to do?

  5. I never got the red can.... But had a blue one w/ mountains quite often
  6. It's way harder to take a picture of a dual line than a rev by yourself......or maybe its because I'm a rookie! :)

    1. John Barresi

      John Barresi

      Nah, it's just cuz you're a rookie. :)

  7. I believe its time...

  8. Wish I would have had kites at that age... I have had the opportunity to put tje handles in some young ones hands lately. Pretty fun directing and watching the excitement.
  9. You set yourself up for a........ What happened?!
  10. wow Wayne! I used that same saying just yesterday...."who knew". Jinx...double jinx.... You owe me a kite.
  11. Not yet sorry..the beach was too crowded Sunday for me to fly it and risk pegging someone. I did get to put it up for a few minutes today, but promptly brought it down as the thunder rumbled. Then another short session after the storm blew by....but no pics due to the off and on rain.
  12. Has anyone ever stopped at a trio?! I can't wait to have this one in my bag :-) 977 I started flying less than 2yrs ago...and thought why would you need so many kites? Now I have 2 foils,3 Revs,a single line and soon to be 2 dualies. Hint .......hint
  13. Rain...rain...go away!

I've got a dual line that wants to come out and play!

  14. Ya I cut it before I realized it was supposed to be u shape. Thought it was a mistake....and you know, guys and directions...... I did read far enough to see high and low wind setups
  15. Does the rng even have 4 digits? . Very much envy
  16. Midnite? I have not slept all weekend with all this anticipation! Then I have to wait on the mail man too........ torture!
  17. Fun kite. I wanted the Wala XL, but the price difference allowed me to get 2 kites instead of 1. I see alot of fun coming from it with myself and my grandson.... and whoever else comes along with interest.
  18. Ah yes.....but with every ending.... is a new beginning!
  19. And the Wala comes to life.... What fun! Flew for about an hour on the beach today...... baarefoot,78degrees
  20. Hope Mr. B got a nap. I have a feeling this thread will explode about 11:59
  21. I think it's time to make like Orville and Wilbur...... And head out for the first flight!

  22. I couldn't wait... Bought a Prism Quantum yesterday. 2 weeks ought to be enough to sharpen my skills for when this baby arrives at my door..
  23. Took a trip to Extreme Kites today to get some repair parts and possibly hold me over until the drawings...... once again walked out with some new kites. My first single line kite and really my first dual stunt kite also. Try and catch some video of both later today..... as there was no flying today.
  24. Wooohooo!.... Parts to fix the mojo, rev rod, Prism Quantum(dual line), and a Wala (single line).. Now just speed back to Jax and my toxic list will be complete.
