  1. It is being flown by the designer, and it seems like he has won a few awards, so I don't think his piloting skills are lacking in any way. http://www.skysportdesign.com/history/
  2. I was looking for the same info and posted on a thread on another forum that I didn't think it was for sale yet, because I couldn't find any info on it. I was assured by someone on that forum that it is for sale, but as of now, no link is posted yet.
  3. I think that competition is the best thing that can happen in any industry. Keeps companies from getting complacent, and spurs improvement in products and innovation. I am by no means an expert in kiting, or in quads for that matter, but there is something about the way that this ABS flies that I find intriguing , and I have read remarks on Youtube and another forum, that echo my take on this design. Will be interesting when these actually hit the market, although I have read a post by one person that already has a set of 5 of them, and loves the way they fly.
  4. These videos are pretty nice.

    ABS Quad

Wondering what thoughts are on this new Quad design. I read yesterday on Dodd Gross's Facebook page that he is getting one and going to start teaching Quads utilizing it. Should be interesting.
  6. I would be hesitant to use epoxy that was several years old. Get some 5 minute epoxy, glue the ferrule in, and the kite will disintegrate before that ferrule comes loose. Gorilla glue is a poor substitute for a good epoxy in my opinion and not worth the dollar or two savings. CA glue is brittle and will break sooner or later.
  7. Surprised that they don't use epoxy which will never come loose.
  8. Doesn't fishing line stretch more than kite line, which is a bad thing for controlling a Rev?
  9. I guess I misunderstood the Forum Title " Kite Reviews"...
  10. Isn't this forum for kite reviews rather than questions?
  11. I use these Apps on my Smartphone. http://global.iwindsurf.com/ http://www.windfinder.com/ They are both free .
  12. Here is an in depth review of the Pro found on Google. http://v2.2.kiteclique.com/prism-quantum-pro-review/
  13. Yes it can. Here is a book that you can download that explains how you can control a Rev Kite. I would read this book, and then watch the beginner tutorials on Quads that are available on this website. http://www.gwtwforum.com/pdf/revbook.pdf http://kitelife.com/forum/tags/downloads/beginner/

  15. Here is what helped me to get the inverted hover down. Whether the Rev is LE up or down, the control input needed to keep the kite level is exactly the same. In other words, if the right side of the LE starts to drop, that means that the kite is starting to rotate clockwise. To stop that rotation and bring the leading edge level again, a bit of forward thumb on the left side will cause it to rotate CCW, bringing it back to level again, regardless of it's LE orientation. Once I got that figured out, keeping it level in an inverted hover was simple, since whether or not it was inverted, didn't matter.
  16. Once I put Magic Sticks on one of my Revs, inverted hovers were a piece of cake. I quickly ordered a second set, and if I get another Rev, will order a 3rd set at the same time.
  17. I have a kickstand on my SLE standard after reading the latest threads on the subject. After seeing how simple they are, I bought the materials from Tom's kite truck to make 3 more sets for some of my other quads. I just haven't made then yet. Did I mention that in "2 minutes" he had control of the kite that took me hours to do. He had a couple of crashes on the lawn that didn't really concern me at all. And one time when he was going to have a hard crash, the kid ran forward to soften to blow before I could say anything. The movie "Searching for Bobby Fisher" came to mind and I looked closely at this kid who barely came up to my navel, And thought, he looks at bit like a young JB. Hopefully the kid can talk his parents into getting him a Rev for his birthday.
  18. Paul - Are you talking about carrying a "learner kite", for the kid, or are you referring to a modification to the Rev ? I'm betting Paul is referring to a set of Magic Sticks which would have kept the Rev from doing a bowtie and breaking a ferrule.
  19. I found this webpage on dual line kite design. Covers just about everything. http://www.ian.ourshack.org/kitedesign/design.html
  20. Make the video a favorite within Dropbox. The video will remain on the phone within Dropbox. It will be available to watch without the internet. Also, you will not have to wait to watch it. It is easy to make a favorite, just click the star. Didn't know that, thanks. Now that I look, I see that JB had mentioned that in his post too.
  21. Obviously, you can also use dropbox from an Android phone or Tablet too. Looks even better, with the larger screen on many Android phones. Keep in mind that when you are playing the video from dropbox, on your phone, it has to be downloaded from the cloud where it is stored, so it takes a while. I took videos that I watch often, and just downloaded them to my phones storage, so I can play them immediately without waiting for them to download from the cloud.
  22. It would seem to me that the flight characteristics of a Rev with the heavier tubes show in the photo, would not be quite the same as the rods that I have in the kits that I installed on my Revs, that I purchased at Flying Smiles Kites .
  23. The instructions with the 16" kit said 12" from the LE. ( 9" for Rev ll ) Not sure if the distance is different for the 12" Kit, but it didn't mention anything on the instruction sheet, so it probably is the same.
  24. I saw those homemade sticks in a video this morning on Facebook and they look gigantic in size, compared to the sets on my Revs. I would assume that would affect the balance of the kite, as well as the parasitic drag. In this photo you can see how thin mine are, and they weigh almost nothing.
