Jeepster Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 ... PS I know all my kites are "SHES", but I'm having such a hard time coming up with a name for my most beautiful Black Rainbow that I thought I'd name it "Howard", if that's OK with you. You're the one that hooked me up with the Rainbow!! Duane, Are you sure you want a male kite in the kite bag with all those females? You never know what will show up!!! Since it's so colorful, you might consider naming it Carmen after Carmen Miranda. Cheers, Tom Quote
Hedgewarden Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Duane, WTF? Definitely not to be named Howard! How about "My Precious"? Just plain "Rainbow"? "Sunny" (my wife)? Hmmm. Your wife? ....................... Here's a hint on WTF, if you need it: WTF might be "What The " Anyway, don't want John to have to pull the messages. Quote
Guru4tru Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 I'll have to wait till we fly together to name her, I suppose! "What the feathers"...I understand. I thought you said, "Where's the feathers". Keep It Up! Duane Quote
Guru4tru Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 Oh...Yeah, I have 2 other pictures. The 1st one is a pic of my new kite stakes. I found because the Rev. requires one hand on the handles...I made the stakes so I only needed one hand to operate it. I just clip it on a belt loop. I used 3/8 alum. for the rod, drilled a hole in the top and mounted a cabinet knob, I got at Lowes, on it. (It was a hard choice, because there are about a thousand different knobs to choose from.) And then attached a key clip on that. Works great and doesn't get in the way. The 2nd pic. is me shaking "THE" Christmas present...trying to figure out what's in it!! :confused!: Keep It Up! JoneZ Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 lol ingenius with those stakes. Ever think of becoming an inventor? don't shake that box too hard, you don't want to break (or rip?) whatever's inside!!! lol I was such a present shaker as a kid, and I still am, but my Wife isn't.. Im still gonna shake some presents this year -- I got a free ticket, it being my 30th birthday and all. hehe Cheers m8!! Quote
Baloo Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 HEY DUANE, look out, some Santa impersonator is trying to nick your Rainbow. OOOps sorry mate, it is you, OK carry on. You be sure to act suprised when you open it, you are not supposed to KNOW what Santa is bringing you. Wouldnt it be funny if your Wife had bought you summat in a Rev looking box? Quote
Guru4tru Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 Hey Bear!!! Don't give my wife any ideas...(she's still looking for a way to get back at me for trying to sell her on eBay) And you know Santa has "white" hair...I'm not there yet!! Keep It Up! Duane Quote

Hi Jon, That makes you the same age as Choccy...she truns 30 (I think) on the first! (Glad Tom & Howard are here...they make me seem like a youngster) As for becoming an inventor...no way! I was taught not to waist my time "reinventing the wheel"...almost everything is already out there just being used for something else...I'm an improvisor! Keep It Up! Duane Quote

Duane Somehow I knew that Choccy was a Capricorn. For some reason or another, I can tell just by looking at someone whether they are a Cap. or not. The wheel use to be square til someone re-invented it. Also, weren't they going to close the patent office in the 1920's, because they "thought" that everything had been invented? Now look where we are! Computers, dragon skin bullet-proof vests, sliced breads?!!?! Hardly a waste of time no? You got some insane ingenuity man -- think you'd make a good inventor. Quote

YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS!! And…..I’m so stupid… WTF…WTF…WTF… “Where’re The Feathers” You were trying to tell me all along what the handles needed and I didn’t get it!!! But, Thanks to you I’ve got it all together now!! Really COOL!! Thanks Again!! Keep It Up! Duane Quote
Baloo Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Looks like your feathers could do with a bit of hair conditioner :-) Good idea though, adds a bit of wind resistance to the bottom lines to help with reducing over-control on inverted flight. Genious or what? Quote

John Barresi Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 Aye, looking good Duane! Mid-vent too, super sexy! Your house looks like the kind of place I'd like to be for Christmas. Only if I could bring TK, of course. <grin> Quote
BillLamm Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 well Guru... I got to fly my new rev before Christmas but I have a feeling you will get a lot more hours on yours before I get to fly mine... it is two cold and wet.... although my son was ready to take his home made quad out... maybe we will get a few warm enough days before mid March... In the picture the rev is mine... and the junebug inspired one on the right I made for my son... his g-friend conceived the pattern derived from his favorite game tetris and my wife painted the sail... Hi Bill, AH...Yes...the joy of a new Rev.!! As you know, I'm new to the Rev. world. That Junebug is really nice. I can see a lot of work went into the making of that...did you sew it by hand or with a machine? And how well does that design fly? Here in Florida we are just reveresed...we hide in the summer and fly during the winter! Maybe when I'm hiding this coming summer I'll try making one of those. Thanks for the web site with the plans! Keep It Up! Duane Quote
JoneZ Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 Damn son!! Lookin good with that rainbow Rev. Congrats on that one!!! Quote

Keep It Up! Duane this is my first REV as well... the tetris kite is un tested... I made a similar (slightly smaller) sail that is being drawn up like a Hawaiian shirt pattern and it flew pretty good... the bridal needs tweaking I think and it doesn't respond as quick as a REV but it uses less dacron leading edge so it is relatively inexpensive way to play with sail painting technique and test them against the elements.. I re sized the junebug to fit the standard REV spars.. I ultimately want to paint on REV sails or have my paintings made into REV sails and/or make crazy quad kites like the giant mouse cursor I found online the other day... but I am just getting started... "slow and steady wins the race" Quote

Duane I will pass on your admiration of the design... I like it as well... the only input we gave his G-friend is that the image needs to look good at 100' in all directions... not sure how well the art will hold up but soon we will try with some transparent heat set paint... that is only my third sail.... don't think I could get a job as seamstress yet but I am pleasantly surprised with the progress of my sewing skills...
