Tmadz
Sunday I was flying a B series std sail and the wind was transitioning to vented territory. The wind buffeted rather than gusted because it seemed like a peak then suddenly a trough. Anyway, my right upper larks head knot popped off the bridle. I never heard of this happening before. When I set my lines I always check to make sure they're set properly. So my question is has anyone had this happen with lines of any type? I was using 90# with 100# sleeving I believe. It is a well used line set, but no problems with it to date.
Reved
Twice when changing kites, I put the larks head on a little fast. Instead of having the LH before the bridle knot, I ended up putting it over the bridle knot. Sort of half on each side of the knot. It slipped off right away. Now I go I bit slower. mystainedskin
I have had issues with the stock sized sleeving before. ..doing exactly as described. I now use a fairly thin and small diameter hollow core dacron 80#. Problem solved ...except for the occasional rush job
Wayne Dowler
On sets I make, I use 100# bridle line with the core removed as sleeving! Only time I ever had an issue was on a light bridled SUL!
Reved
The bridle on my B2 is a thinner line than the 1.5s. One day when flying in crazy wind, the lines slipped thru the knots in the sleeving on my home made 100' 50# Skybond lineset. It got all scrunched up and came very close to slipping over the tiny B2 bridle knot. I switched to a heavier bridle and smaller sleeving on the linesets. Txscout
I have always feared that happening, especially when I first got into sport kites, but have never heard of it happening.

Didn't know that the bridle was of a different line!!?? I'm going to the coast and see one at a shop there, I'll have to check it out!! Reved
Flying the B2 in 20-30+ really tested the limits of the linesets and showed the weak points. I'm always flying std quads in wind that I shouldn't. I broke rods on my 1.5 B's several times. An addiction to speed at this stage of learning.
SparkieRob
I've checked my B2, the bridle is the same size as my 1.5B's.
Reved
This is the only B2 I have, so I've got no comparison. The bridle that came with it measured ~.036". And the B Pro and SLE bridle measures ~.051".
SparkieRob
Wow! My SLE and EXP have the flattish white bridle but my B's and B2 have the round grey bridle.
Wayne Dowler
I had noticed the dif in EXP bridles, but none in the 1.5 regular kites!
Reef Runner
I got three B2's and a Rev II, and all the bridles seem to be the same as my 1.5's ?? Oh, I never had a lark's head to fail. I would bet you just didn't have it completely behind the knot, or didn't cinch it up snug, before take-off. That's a pretty reliable method, for attaching your lines to the bridle. The harder it gets pulled, the tighter it gets.
John Barresi
Only ever seen this happen for one of two reasons in my 24 years... 1 - custom bridle with smaller line (and knots) 2 - missed larks head (just loop hanging on knot) You'd be surprised how long it's stayed on with #2 before popping off.
