Kite line sleeving

I have decided to use spectra 80# for my stunt kite line. Do I really have to pay $15 for a sleeving kit? Or can I get what I need somewhere else? I understand how to do it but would like recommendations regarding what size hollow dacron I'll need for the 80# spectra. Would also like to know what length spectra that 2 line kite flyers recommend. I'm guessing somewhere in the 80 to 100 foot range? Just want to be in the ballpark here.

Check with INTO THE WIND, they are supporters here, and they sell it by the yard in black and white, you need a yard of each and a dull needle, ah, the guitar high E-string works too.

Figure of eight knot = no sleeving at all,... I recommend you build a stopper knot into the loop before closing it off too

I tried this but I have big fingers. It was a disaster. YMMV.

I have a few non-sleeved sets which I'm happy with. I do tend to get cuts on my fingers more often though. No biggy. As far as line length goes, I prefer 100 to 150 foot lines which makes for a large fun window to fly in, especially to music.

Also check which kites are available from them; might find one you like.
