Frankieflyin
Well that was good spotting. Someone must have a sharp eye. Thanks for the criticism. Its all constructive. That's one of the reasons why I joined kitelife. I need criticism. I'm not going to get it from anyone here because no one flys a rev. However my full vent bungee s are tight as. Still not sure if I like sail tension tight or loose. But I think it is crisper with tight sail. I'll tighten up black/lime rev today. Was wanting to go for fly today near Harbour bridge at new park called bangaroo (think that's how it is spelt). If winds stays westerly. ...... Wayne Dowler
Just don't overdue it!! You don't want to make any vertical wrinkles when you tighten up the bunjiis. Tight - yes, overtight - no!! If you tighten too much, you'll stretch the sail - and it will never come back to what it was!
Frankieflyin
I thought tightening bugees would fix wrinkles Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk
Wayne Dowler
Horizontal wrinkles - yes!! Just don't make vertical wrinkles as you adjust. Overtightening will cause vertical wrinkles.
Frankieflyin
Ok. Thanks for that. Think I understand. ....lol Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk
Wayne Dowler
Loose bunjiis will cause wrinkles to form across the sail. Tighten until they go away. Overtightening will cause wrinkles up and down, along the vertical rods - those you don't want!
makatakam
When adjusting the sail tension, it is best to have the tips of the top caps on the vertical spars (at the leading edge) not sticking out above the leading by more than about 1/4 to 3/8 of a inch. Less chance of getting flying lines and bridle snagged up on them, as you've most probably experienced by now, and less chance of catching on brush, weeds, junk, etc., when doing an inverted slide near the ground. Also gathers less mud and sand, and minimizes wear on bridle and bungees. And yes, tighten the tops a bit first and then the bottoms. Sorry, my bad -- So many of my kites have been modified by replacing the top bungees with zero-stretch line, that I forgot about that. With zero-stretch line holding the top caps, they don't move up as you tighten the bottoms, so I only have to adjust bottoms and never have to play with the tops until I wear them out. Frankieflyin
Ok . that was my bad flying or judgment that caused me to catch tiny branch. [emoji13] Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk

Frankieflyin
Question. ... Can someone please tell me what size handles are used for indoor flying. I only have standard handles which comes with exp. Think they are 11'. Think I remember seeing jb's indoor tuts. Think he was using 13'. I feel that I am struggling for control using the 11'. my hands are quite spread apart at times. I'm sure that this can be seen on videos. Could someone please explain. ...... I know I'm trying to fly a custom rev to do the job of an indoor rev. I just need some experienced advice about matter. Thanks people. .. Wayne Dowler
Indoor handles are 14", outdoor ones are 11", 13", 15" from the factory. All are measured before bending - meaning 11" before bending = 10" now after bending, You lose approximately an inch with the bend. Some use their outdoor 13" indoors easily - Watty being one I know, the other being Penny L.. In general, longer handles give you more leverage, good up to a point and then that extra leverage works against you as the wind builds. I myself use 13", 14", and 15" outdoors, and indoor handles indoors!! Measure yours and round up to the odd inch to see what you have. PS: I had my outdoor handles made for me - they use a slightly shallower bend than the stock outdoor handles. A bit of extra brake built in! Frankieflyin
They are standard handles that come with rtf package. Think they are 11' If don't own any other handles. Been thinking about getting an indoor rev. Made a couple mad videos at Barangaroo. Hope that people will enjoy Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk
Frankieflyin
So I have been using 11' for zero wind flying and only just getting away with it. Have a look at zero wind flying and tell me what you notice about me trying to fly using 11" Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk
Wayne Dowler
If they came with a 1.5 RTF package - most likely 13". Remember - they are measured before bending, then bent, and the finished product is something less than 13". When it comes to comparing your self to JB and his ways - remember - You are watching and learning from one of the world's best fliers, hands down! He does things I only dream of doing. And I consider myself pretty good at this! It's all about how YOU feel!!! About the home built - what sail did you use as the pattern? What did you frame it with? Might contribute to it's characteristics.
Frankieflyin
Well in reply to custom rev. Has strong rods, similar to say 3 wrap. Not 100%sure. Think its ripstock nylon. But don't quote me on that. So could be on the heavy side Now with regard to jb. I know he is one of the best, if not the best! So I feel that learning from the best is the only way to go. My motto has always been with regard to my injuries. If he can do it. Why can't I????? After all he is human, not a robot. Ok he has 22 years more experience. But at the end of the day. He is still HUMAN. That attitude is what has gotten me this far. So it must be working. I've noticed my improvements in the last 3 years. It is helping me over and above my expectations. The sky is the limit. So then the only way to improve is to set the bar high. That's what I'm doing. I have even noticed the difference in my flying since joining kitelife. Now that's saying something. Might have something to do with pushing myself to fly with intent. That's where I feel my flying is at. I'm an advanced flyer who wants to become a master! The only way that will happen if I push the limits of my flying. The only way to push my limits is to compare it to jb. So comparing myself to jb isn't any comparison really. But that's what is going to propel me forward. Set the bar high!!!!!!!!! Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk
Frankieflyin
If jb can fly in amongst the trees. ... Why can't I? Well I have already proved that to myself. Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk
