Hi everyone, We've had a great summer in Ontario this year so far - earlier in the year I rekindled my love of kites and gotten my kids into it as well. Recently got into 2 line stunt kite - been challenging so far to get more than 1 minute of flight time - we have lots of hot days, but not many breezy days to let the wings soar! Fell in love with kiting as a child back home - built my first sled kite at the age of 10, and particularly love single line deltas - we recently flew a small delta (50 incher) about 500 m (~1500ft) over Grand Bend Beach - out on Lake Huron. What a feeling to have my kids look at this kite so high, holding the reel, feeling the pull on the string....then as people pass by asking "What are you doing?" - and watching as a 7 year old says "Flying a kite...look way up - see that yellow dot in the sky?"...........the response and reactions are just amazing! Even more amazing when they look at the reel and ask, how much more string you got?.... another 500meters! Hoping to learn more about Dual line kites and explore such a simple yet humbling hobby again!2 points

Read a bunch when looking for a vented. Got the Mind Trick vented. If I could only have 1 kite it would be the 1. Helluva deal used or I would have gotten the Challenger Max vented. Kite that I want the most is a Fearless 2 light vented. Pricey but I'm a Lam believer. Worth more than you pay.1 point

Andy from Ocean Shores Kites let me demo the standard and the vented models last fall. We started with the standard in around 5-6 mph and when the wind picked up over 10mph we switched to the max. the vents really helped with the increased wind. I'm still a beginner to dual line tricks so I'm unable to really get into how well I was able to do tricks like axles and such.1 point

First of the Gray Fades is starting to come together..Decided to use Black on LE and Black Edge binding to help frame the lighter center section in the finished sail. Since this is one of my earlier panels prior to me adjusting the pattern, I have to decide if I will leave it higher aspect ratio (i.e. shorter vertically) or add a strip of material to top or bottom to bring it to full 1.5 size... Kite is Black, Charcoal, Silver and White. Hopefully I can fly it this weekend weather permitting.1 point

buy a spool and do it yourself, nobody else will ever care as much as you do! No sleeving (just another tangle point waiting to make you angry). Make a stopper knot into the single length of line FIRST, then fold the line in half (and keeping that knot centered perfectly) add a doubled overhand figure of eight knot to complete the loop. Since you are not using sleeving, there's "only shortening, NEVER untying!", so make your loop longer than normal, in case you need to make minor adjustments later for equalizing. or be lazy (like me) call Cath/Eliot and tell 'em what you're looking for, they've got a whole store full of cool accessories and kites, just needing a generous portion of your money & few minutes of their time to make it happen! There are eyes screws embedded into the fence rails and painted-off marks along their parking lot parameter, so challenge 'em with funky lengths <LOL> A QUOTE to share on the phone: "I'm painting the Sistine Chapel, .... I do NOT clean the stinkin' brushes". Ask for an explanation and hear a great tale1 point

A little note on bridles - the Indoor doesn't use one at all. There are only pigtails attached to the top and bottom of your verticals. A common mod is to lengthen the top pigtail and add knots to adjust it to your taste. Some shorten the bottom or at least add a few knots for further adjustment. Also we add some bow to the LE by tightening the bunjis at the end caps. Then remove any wrinkles caused from it, by tightening the tip bunjis til the sail is pretty smooth. Another little thing I do to an Indoor - I add small pieces of insignia tape to reinforce the bunji holes. Prevents elongating from stretching those bunjis and caps tight. Pretty much all this info is in an article by Watty on here.1 point

My boy, (24 year old kid) has two fw kites, a std silver fox 2.5 and a vented 2.5, both fly well, smooth straight, somewhat tricky, trickable, ( not quite as "floppy as his Lam Hoac atm} but very capable. we've sort of moved on from the std to other brands, it has more pull than his newer kite. most kites have adjustment points at the upper spreader to ease the pull but this kite has a bead system that allows you to change between two modes of flying. but neither mode doesn't seem to do much about altering the amount of pull the kite has. I've heard the ul has only about 1 mph or so in the lower wind range so we went with other kites for ul which have a better low wind advantage. his Lam Hoac is one for trickability and the other is a widowmaker pro sul for super low wind conditions to about 5-7. The build quality looks pretty good for a production kite, the only problems I've come across is some superglue issues, not using enough in places? dunno, minor stuff I guess. He likes his vented, he's flown it in wind up to nearly 30 mph but it Will drag you around at that speed but its a real tank of a kite. We go to that one when the wind gets around 12 mph and above. Too much wind for him to trick much but it handles well at those speeds. the std is now his secondary std wind kite. All in all a pretty good intermediate to advanced kite but it could leave you wanting after a while. It was the best available at the time we bought them for the price and the features. Time does not stand still however.1 point

Another thing we noticed about this kite is that it flew in about the same wind speed his atm sul fly's in, starting around 3-4 mph, pretty light wind for a std. It was slow and lazy but it flew and my boy doesn't have a lot of low wind experience with heavier kites. We are thinking about getting one to take the place of the atm and the std silver fox. keeping the atm just because and use the fox for a backup std. I think It will help some not having to change kites quite as much. btw, you going to greyland? if so we'll see you there.1 point
